DESCRIPTION
Winter of junior year. Not quite able to become adults, we couldn't stay as we were as children, either. Our tale explores a group of teenagers and their impatience and rebirth. "They say if you write down your wish, bury it under Sheep Tower and then dig it up after 7 years and 7 months, your wish will come true..."
Tsugu Miikura, a high schooler who loves to play guitar, had moved away due to family circumstances from the rural town where she spent her childhood. After several years, she's back in her old hometown. She reunites with her childhood friends—Sora, Yuushin, and Asari—the friends she'd buried a time capsule with back in elementary school. Tsugu is overjoyed to be with her friends once more, but the bonds that she thought would never change have in fact started to grow major cracks...

60/100Though it's not anything special. I think its still enjoyable to kill some time. 6/10Continue on AniListThe Golden Sheep review. From the covers you can tell this is gonna be a nice wholesome series.
And like any wholesome series we start with attempted suicide. Like all the kids do.
The series starts off with a guy trying to kill himself by lighting some candles or whatever is a sealed car. Choking himself to death and being saved by a random girl. Later we find out that the random girl our FMC went back to the her hometown after living away for a while and met all her childhood friends. The underlying theme of this story is how much things change whilst some remain the same. We see these pretty easily through small flashbacks and side by side panel comparison throws in. The story revolves around 4 childhood friends.
The series is deceptively dark much to my surprise. It's made by the same author who made As the Gods lie. I wasn't a big fan of that series though I didn't hate it either. This felt more fleshed out and more enjoyable overall due to the personality and likeability of the main heroine. The main heroine is adorable. She is all smiles and laughs a lot. Her presence in the series brights up the pages. It's always nice to see her just exist mostly due to the fact that all her friends have these dark histories around them.
The 2nd female lead (FMC2) is just a simp. Honestly I didn't like her. I'd be surprised if anyone did. She was annoying and bitchy to the female lead who i was totally not in love with. Her Drama was the fact that she kept feeling excluded and though I understood her point of view. She was still quite a bitch.
The MMC grew on me. He was the whole I'm weak, I get bullied etc etc kinda schmuk. However his character development and growth was natural and had a dramatic flair to it. I think the author lucked out on this guy. At the end of the series I quite liked him. Especially when he did finally stand up for himself.
The 2nd male lead (MMC2) is worse than FMC2 if you can believe that. I don't want to spoil anything as this is a spoiler free review. But he's a piece of shit. Like for real probably the 2nd worst character in the series not even joking. But a garbage human being.
Being a short series there really isn't much for me to talk about. I think the author handled things as well as she could have. The complaints are obvious. But the dramatic moments have the needed effect that the author was trying to convey.
The romance was lacking. For a series tagged romance. I was hoping for something more conclusive but we can only get so much shit. As the gods lie the author's previous work was also lacking in the romance department. There is no but. Stop tagging her series as romance when clearly it isn't good enough.
TLDR: Though it's not anything special. I think its still enjoyable to kill some time. 6/10

70/100Spoiler-free review of Kin no Hitsuji. A nice, dramatic teen story.Continue on AniList════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Considerations ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ● __This is a spoiler-free review.__ ● 70 in my scoring system means __"average"__. ● I've got to read this work on a friend's recommendation. I didn't look too much into the synopsis and just started reading. ● This manga deals with heavy themes such as bullying and suicidal thoughts. If you feel like those themes are sensitive topics for you, please skip the manga. If you are struggling with any issue, call your country's hotline. Take care ♡. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The Story ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Tsugu loses contact with her best childhood friends as she moves to Osaka. Years later, Tsugu is coming back to her home town, and she hopes to get in touch with her past friends and relive the amazing friendship they had. But with the time apart, things changed. The story of Kin no Hitsuji is __average__. I like how the story is presented and how there are many internal dramas. The pacing is good and even as a short manga (15 chapters), it doesn't feel rushed nor over stretched. There's also a good sense of closure with a good ending without leaving anything major unanswered. But, there's nothing amazing about the story whatsoever. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The Art Style ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The art style is clearly the style of the author, who's known for his other work (and more successful) called [Kami-sama ga Uso wo Tsuku.](https://anilist.co/manga/80217/Kamisama-ga-Uso-wo-Tsuku/) The art is __overall good__. Very nice character designs with a lot of minor details, such as clothing, that the author discusses a little more in his last volume extras. Perspectives, shading, and textures are nice. Backgrounds sometimes lose a lot of detail, but it's not terrible. There's not much for me to complain about. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The Characters ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ There are a moderate number of characters in this work. Main character and her 3 best friends, a bit of their families and other minor characters. Each of the friends brings a different drama to the story, supporting or adding to the main character's own drama. Everything is okay but not remarkable. I always like to spend some time talking about the main characters. I think that Tsugu was __average__. Besides some impulsiveness, I felt that she behaved in a bland mood during the series. She flows with the drama instead of leading it. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Conclusion ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ If you're like me, you skip everything and read only the conclusion because you don't want to get spoiled with other themes. So I will try to be brief on this point: __Maybe read it.__ It's a very common dramatic manga. Considering everything, I can't see anything that is really remarkable. If you like dramatic teen stories, go for it.
