100/100A wholesome story about a cute couple of newly-wedsContinue on AniListThe life of newly-weds can be full of new concepts and joys. Tonikaku Kawaii is probably the most wholesome anime/manga that I've seen. It has an amazing story while still being relaxing to the readers. I personally love this manga so much that I bought the physical copies of the first 7 volumes (will buy the other volumes when they come out in english). I'm also a huge fan of Hata-sensei, so I probably like this series more than most.
The story is about a brilliant boy named Yuzaki Nasa who meets this mysterious beauty (Yuzaki Tsukasa) and marries her. Nasa was given a weird name at birth because his name is spelled using the kanjis for hoshizora meaning starry sky (星空) but pronounced Nasa, named after the US's NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). One day while walking home pleased with his mock exam grades, he sees a beautiful girl on the other side of the street sipping coffee. He's determined to talk to her, so he starts crossing the street to talk to her. However, he's unaware of the danger he just put himself in. BAM, he's hit by a truck. But what's this, he's still alive and the girl he saw is right above him bleeding too. She protected him from the truck by taking most of the blow. She then gets up acting like nothing happened.
As Nasa watches her leave, she reminds him of Princess Kaguya from the old fairytale, The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. He then chases after her to thank her and tell her how he feels. Unexpectedly she says, "Alright. If you marry me, I'll go out with you." Nasa replies with an immediate Yes and passes out.Right from the beginning there are a lot of questions to be raised about Tsukasa. For example, how did she get up so easily after being hit by a truck? In my opinion, questions like these are essential to a good story and for raising a good fanbase. A manga that conveys this beautifully is One Piece because fans are constantly theorizing and giving hypotheses on the questions and what will happen in the story.
Moving away from the main story, this manga is full of wholesome daily life experiences and is exactly how a slice of life manga should be (in my opinion). It has a good mix of comedy to go with the romance. I can't say much about romance because I've never been in a relationship before, but I think this is a very cute romance story.
There aren't too many side characters so you're not getting overwhelmed with too many characters to keep up with. In addition to that, the side characters still have their own little part in the story without getting too involved, so they don't get boring. The personalities of the side characters also are very similar to other slice of life side characters which gives a nice feel of familiarity.
Another thing I enjoy about this, is that it takes place in the same world as Hata-sensei's previous manga Hayate no Gotoku!, and shows some of it's characters in the background. That gives it a nice sense of nostalgia for the people that has read or watched Hayate no Gotoku!.
Hata-sensei has good talent as a mangaka, because he has some good art and is able to come up with good stories. He is also very experienced as a mangaka with having a few previous manga and being active since 2002. Hata-sensei was also the assistant of Kumeta Kouji who I think is also a very good mangaka (I really liked his Kakushigoto). There are some bad parts to this manga though. Some people might not like how there are a lot of slice of life parts that don't really have much to do with the main story regarding Tsukasa's mysteriousness, and want to story to go faster. Some might consider some of the characters annoying like Kaname's lewd jokes. There might be some other parts people don't like but I personally don't have a problem with these.
Overall I really enjoy this manga and I'm sure people who like romcom slice of lifes will also enjoy it. But if you're into genres like action and drama this might not be for you. I've reread this manga plenty of times and I think will keep doing so for a long time. Of course this is mainly just my opinion though, you will also have your own view of Tonikaku Kawaii, but I hope this was somewhat useful. (sorry if this review isn't that good, it's my first review)

100/100In my opinion, peak fictionContinue on AniListOne night, Nasa is walking down the street until he gets a fateful encounter with a beautiful woman called Tsukasa. One thing after another, Nasa asks her out and ends up marrying her. Tonikaku Kawaii tells the story of these newlyweds and how the couple's relationship will develop even though they've already reached the main goal. To me, this manga is the equivalent of rom com wholesome crack. This series has also cured my depression, increased my height 5 inches, solved economic inequality, and united the world effectively bringing world peace. Okay maybe most of that isn't true, but my point is I that I am a big advocator(
simp) of this manga because it's awesome as hell! What follows will probably be incoherent and nonsensical ramblings as I continue to demonstrate how I am too passionate about something that not many people will be.First off let us get our protagonists out of the way.
First, we have the man, the madlad, the legendary rare SSR male individual Nasa. This dude is simply amazing, hes a smart lad as he grinded away in his studies and other things to become a real legend and show his dominance over anyone that makes fun of his name. In turn however, he is not very nerdy in other things like video games and other fun media which leads to many epic (for real on God) misunderstandings in the beginning. He is also straight up and very honest towards people which creates epic and hilarious conversations in this series. Overall, hes a GOAT.
Next, we have the awesome cute and epic wife that is Tsukasa.
She's like pretty chill and honestly a cool person. She unlike Nasa has consumed a ton of media like the very movies and videos games that he can be unaware of. She honestly loves Nasa for the person he is which is very sweet and wholesome. She is also quite knowledgeable regarding the history of Japan, although weird that she seems to know so much that it's almost like she's lived through history itself (spoiler-140s) and yeah im aware that she has due to her immortality and stuff by drinking the elixir. Anyways, despite being embarrassed at points, Tsukasa is fine with being affectionate or showing affection for Nasa when situations call for it. Does all this make her character interesting though? Probably not, but I'd say she does put her own spin on the rom com thing. She's not a damsel in distress or soulless husk with no distinguishing personality traits besides being a bimbo that's marketable, so I think she stands out from anyone else. Anyways she's a sigma and BASED and KINO that's all.
The side characters are all alright. I never found any issues with them, but there is the occasional trope or three that's one note and may not land with you. This could be repetitive which is a small downside to this. However, one side character that I would like to give an honorable mention to is:
Kaname ArisugawaShe at the beginning is mostly there to comment in and make some dirty jokes but I don't think I give her enough credit. She overall is pretty chill and is pretty responsible and mature given that she's also there to give advice to both Nasa and Tsukasa on stuff to improve their relationship. She also helps the couple when they're facing troubles not about the relationship. Kaname also occasionally teases them both when there's an opportunity, making her a bit of a troll and funny at times. I mention her because she's a great addition to the series and a good source of comedy if the chapters weren't already entertaining enough. Or maybe I'm just wrong idk
Since I've already passed the character limit, I might as well say a few other things. The art is nice and while definitely not going to blow your mind or anything, does fit and compliment the story well imo. To list some bad things about this series, I'd probably say that it is possible that it will be boring as I could see people calling this repetitive as it is mostly sol. Another thing that could put off people is the question of "If they are already together, what is the point of the series?" as the progress and buildup of the two main love interests confessing to each other is gone, unlike examples like Oregairu/SNAFU or something more recent like Kaguya Sama: Love is War. If you are looking for that, maybe this series isn't for you.
The anime is a good option even though some chapters are skipped/moved around. I would say the manga is better, but honestly either should be fine. At the time of this review, season 2 has been confirmed but no release date has been given yet. When you would be finished with the anime, it would be up to you if you would want to wait or continue with the manga(should be around the 30s to 40s). I enjoyed the anime when it aired so I don't mind the wait since all tonikaku is good for me.
In conclusion I'm giving this a 100/100 10/10 100/10 the max score etc to this series. I will disclaim that I am not blessed with the art of constructing god tier analysis and deep reviews into series I see as I usually just nod my head to a series thats good, add it, rate it high, and call it a day here. But since I had time to kill, I decided I wanted to share my opinions about this manga in particular because it's just that raw based kino goat chad and peak. Take my review with many grains of salt as this ultimately is just unorganized ramblings that came up in the 2-3 hours typing this up. I hope by doing this, it has persuaded or convinced more people to check it out. I think there's a decent amount already but hey couldn't hurt to add a few more!
Thank you guys for sitting through this mess (This is my first one so i don't know if I did a good job or not). anyways.... GOATKAKU FOREVER fist up emoji fire emoji
