DESCRIPTION
Leo Cornelia has dedicated her entire life to the battlefield. There is no demon she can't slay, no challenge she can't handle—at least, not until that confounding halfwit mage Foolie Dent confesses his love to her. Nothing feels farther from her than long-discarded notions of femininity and romance, but this annoying but dependable new friend might just be the key to opening the heart she closed long ago.

80/100A funny romcom between a tomboy knight lady and an abs-loving sorcererContinue on AniListI'm not really sure whether or not to start this review by talking about abs fetishes or if I shouldn't. My mind tells me "yes", but the fear of God (also known as the mods) tells me "no". Anyway, enough of me rambling, this is already good enough of an introduction if you ask me. Let me tell you my thoughts on the manga I'm reviewing.
Description
How to Treat a Lady Knight Right is a romantic-comedy set in an isekai-styled fantasy world. Here lives the female main character of this story, Leo Cornelia. As you might have guessed from the title already, she is a lady knight, known as the strongest in the all of the lands. She was never treated as a woman, until she meets Fooly Dent, a sorcerer with an incredible love for both abs and Leo. He professes his love to her, and so the story begins.
Well, that's about it for the premise. Let's dive a little deeper. Let us talk about characters. Leo is definetly a romcom female maim character done right. She's not just your usual archetype and she actually has multiple aspects to her personality, such as both a cute and a strong side, not to mention a good dose of background history, which is not always a given in these kinds of manga. Fooly on the other hand, isn't exactly the best written of characters. While he does a good job at keeping the story going with his over-the-top personality and extreme love for Leo's abs, he doesn't have a whole lot of background history, which would have been a really good addition to his character in my opinion.
Moving on to the artstyle, I must say I really like how Kengo Matsumoto, the author and artist of this manga, has drawn his characters, at least in this series. Kengo managed to draw a Leo that looks scary, strong and cute all at the same time, and that's not an overstatement. The character design is definetly one of the biggest selling points of this manga.
Looking at the chapters, they are quite short, usually around 6 or 7 pages each, not to mention they are mostly episodic, so you can read a bunch of chapters, forget about the manga and then start it again without much repercussion. That is, if you ask me, a must for these types of romcoms, as it allows you to enjoy the story to the fullest without it getting hard to keep up.
Thoughts
This manga was definetly a good read that I would recommend to both romcom and fantasy fans.
The story is both funny and cute and it made me chuckle quite a few times. I'm also quite a sucker for episodic romcoms, so there's that.
Finishing this review off, I must say that this is probably one of the very few manga series I'll ever consider re-reading. This series has definetly deserved a solid 8 out of 10 from me.

67/100A story with a frustrating start that starts to get better very slowly.Continue on AniListI'm going to divide this review into 4 sections
- Story
- Art
- Progression
- Characters
1. Story
The story is about a lady knight who's buffed up and does not think of herself as a woman or womanly. That is where our mmc comes in and confesses (in the very first chapter). She brushes her off but he is one persistent fella and tries his best to convey his feelings. He gets shot down but you can see that the Leo (the fmc) is flustered but does not initially reciprocate openly (this is one of the problems of the series and I'll explain in Progression). The story does have some elements of comedy especially when Mc's sister hangs out with Leo and Fooly (the Mc). The manga is set in a fantasy world with demons and different kind of monsters. The Mc is a mage whereas, the Fmc is a knight. That about summarizes the setting. The Mc has an abs fetish (bonus fact)
2. Art
If we talk about the art of the story then the art is nothing special. Its not too good nor is it too bad. The author really knows how to draw abs though. Although the art can be bland it does eventually get slightly better especially around the 90 chapter mark but the difference is little to none. Apart from that there is nothing to say about the art
3. Progression
In this section we'll talk about how the story progresses. This section might contain some spoilers. The story in the first 70 or so chapters is just random moments from the life of the Mc and Fmc without any direction. New characters are introduced and as you might have guessed, nearly every female character (literally 99% of characters are females) fall for the Mc. Personally I did not enjoy the first 90 or so chapters. I disliked how the knight kept on ignoring the feelings of the Mc while being extremely jealous. If you want him for yourself, make him yours before you complain. She would quite literally slash anyone that would act close with him. The Mc himself isn't that cautious either, as he quite literally touches abs of every single woman in the series with the exception of few. But he does seem to genuinely reject all other advances and truly loves the Fmc and her abs. I did like the comedy factor but the first 90 chapters were a pain to read with absolutely no romantic progression and the Mc having more intimate moments with other girls than the Fmc. I would say the story gets good after the tournament arc begins. The story finally feels as if its developing a direction and the characters are trying to sort their feelings. The only part i genuinely liked was after the tournament. Finally things began to speed up and we have actual content instead of daily moments in their life.
4. Characters
LeoLeo is the Fmc and she has some nice abs. She is covered with scars and doesn't think she has that womanly appeal in the beginning. She does not reciprocate the Mc's feelings but they get close over time. She had an unbearable attitude in the first 90 chapters but the character change after a certain point of realization was dam
Fooly
The main character of the series. a guy with abs fetish (
maybe i can relate?). Fooly loves Leo and is a very straightforward kind person.Anri
Anri to me is definitely the best character (apart from being a brocon?). H/er comments towards the Fmc and Mc genuinely made me chuckle sometimes. That the reason why I like her.
Sarierla
A dark elf. Much more interesting than the Fmc honestly. Her teasing nature is nice ig.
Other characters exist too but I'm kinda tired so please read the series
I think the series was pretty bland the first 90 chapters (repeating this for the third time) Which is why its a below average series for me. I did like how things happened past the 90 chapter mark but the enjoyment was short lived. The first chapters are basically Mc gets in a situation with a girl and Fmc gets mad af but does not think of reciprocating his feelings. Then you see some decent fights and progression.
