40/100Somewhat boring, Somewhat eventful. but mostly kinda boringContinue on AniListThe Girl and the Geek Review. Somewhat boring, Somewhat eventful. but mostly kinda boring
This review spoils about 1/3rd of the series ish. The story really doesn't start till like chapter 25.
This series is about a slob who is the CEO of a major gaming company, and a relative ugly looking woman that works in the same building as a cleaning woman. She accidently throws out his limited edition, one of a kind item that costs 10 million Won. Now in debt she cleans his room and both of realize that they might be attracted to each other in more ways than one. They end up going out and start dealing with other problems.
This isn't a will they, won't they series. They get together early on and the manwha is more about them being in the relationship. This is due to the fact the MMC is 33 and FMC is 30 but both are not only virigns but have never been in a relationship either. So we get that highschool feel of a romantic relationship but at the same time being adults. So you get this dichotomy that is kind of boring.
I don't hate this series. But it does kinda suck. There are heartfelt moments in this series but like you can't ignore everything else about this series.
Here's the thing. The series applies the ugly duckling formula but at the same time its implying that you need to look deeper inside a person to truly understand and fall in love. Here's how this doesn't work the main characters fall in love with each other because they dress up nice. The entire message falls apart because of the main characters doing the opposite of whats mentioned. Now I'm not saying that is 100% true. There might not be any message in this series. It sure as hell feels like it.
Lets not forget that this series characters are kinda crap at all. The MMC is a slob and doesn't really take care of himself. But he's hot so he gets a pass. The female lead is very bland in personality but is hawt so she gets a pass. This is the entire concept of the manhwa. It kinda is hilarious, I only don't understand what the fuck the author was thinking at times. But this does lead to some funny moments.
The manhwa is also stated to be 16 volumes which I don't really feel like is this case. It feels very short. Because it is. I usually use volumes as a metric count but you should use Chapters for this.
I mean what else can I say about this series. I guess I'm glad this continued to the dating aspect of the series but that's not really a major achievement. People complain about a lack of it all the time but there is plenty of good shit that people don't look for.
Overal I didn't really like this series. It felt like a series that was digging itself a deeper hole but also providing a messages that holes are bad for the enviroment. I don't mind a message political or not but at least don't break the floor you are trying to fix. 4/10
