  Non Non Biyori… such an amazing anime…
  Sometimes you question yourself, what really is the greatest anime you’ve ever seen. Well, here we have a nearly flawless anime.

  A slice of life.

  

  Story
  Given that Non Non Biyori is a slice of life, there isn’t much to convey here. Aside, from the entire show being amazing. Non Non Biyori excels at comedy, and calmness. This show doesn’t focus on forced comedy, either. They even use build-ups for the comedy, which makes you grin out of nowhere.
  Sometimes it doesn’t focus on comedy. There have been numerous times where I cried harder than most sad anime I had watched. Most of the time, it focuses on morals too, like family relationships.
  It’s pretty gosh darn wholesome.

  

  Art
  The art in NNB is fine, but nothing special exactly. They do use nice visuals which are good for the backgrounds and stuff. All that’s important is that it is consistent.
  The character designs are unique. Though for some reason the main character never smiled. The body proportions are all over the place though. A 6th grader looks fully mature, and the 12th grader looks like a loli. Nothing wrong, though.
  Another thing is that NNB has no fanservice. Somehow even the beach episode felt more to wholesome than cheap lewds.

  Sound
  Given that the theme of the show is in the boonies, the respective opening used for the entirety of all seasons are well matched. Add some catchy lines and you’ve got yourself an opening worth listening to.
  The voice acting is fine, nothing else really stands out. Glasses-kun never got his lines to speak in the anime, though.
  The overall soundtrack is nice to listen to. Worthy to be lofi music. However, it doesn’t stand out, so it’s not memorable.
  The ending themes aren’t memorable, but it’s wholesome, and can cause depression given if you think about deep enough.

  

  Characters
  The characters are amazingly well written. While it isn’t even a shounen, you’d realize that Ren-chon and her friends are very realistic. The relationships are the best, though. Their relationships between one another are well written and can even make a grown man cry. Ren-chon growing as a whole and becoming more mature is another aspect to pay attention to throughout the series.

  The only flaw is that the characters we want to see more of don’t get enough screen time.

  

  Enjoyment

  While I may be biased, Non Non Biyori was something that saved me from a void known as depression. It is a nice anime to sit down to and relax, but again, Non Non Biyori is nearly perfect. It managed to have a consistent run, while making sure every aspect is consistent.

  The third season of the Non Non Biyori series, Nonstop, has yet again proved that Slice of Life as a genre is a certified kino. Our favourite cast of characters returns to bring us even more positive vibes, and does it in a perfect, colorful way.

  

  Plot-wise, it is still the same good old Non Non Biyori. This time, the anime focuses on all the characters equally, and even adds two new members to the cast - Akane Shinoda, a very shy girl who is a member of Konomi's highschool flute club, and Shiori, a newly moved-in little girl who befriends Renge on her way home.
  Introduction of Akane's character brought out Konomi's values as the "everyone's older sister" and lead to some hillarious interactions with the main four and Akane herself, while Shiori's character gives us one of the best dialogues and moments in the entire series, when she meets and makes friends with Renge.
  Renge's older sister Hikage is given much more focus this time, with anime showcasing her friendship with Natsumi, their shenanigans and school problems, as well as her relationship with the rest of the group.
  Obviously, the anime didn't forget about the main four goofs of the village, and the scenes with them are only enriched by the extended cast.

  Comedic moments in the series, as always, land and hit you like a truck. The classic awkward silences and pauses, something NNB as a series is well-known for, voice actors' delivery and visuals, make every interaction and gag 10 times funnier. (not much of Nii-chan, sadly. Truly the GOAT of the series).

  Visually, the anime is stunning. All of the background arts are beautifully done, with vibrant colors pleasingly flowing through the screen. I mean look at that.

  

  As for the music, again a bag full of comfy, soft tunes that fit the tranquil atmosphere of the show. Opening song, performed by nano.RIPE (like always), is actually my favourite out of the three, and the same can be said about the ending, which is performed by the main four's voice actors.

  Non Non Biyori is a great, great series. It has brought me much joy over the years, and I am happy that we live in a time where shows like this air. Aside from the comfiness value, the show portrays a very specific and relatable image of what childhood to most of kids was like, finding the beauty and fun in small things, being driven by imagination, and sprinkling us with the nostalgia that hits right in the heart.

  Watch Non Non Biyori. You will not regret it.
