DESCRIPTION
If a telepath, a clairvoyant, a vice detective, a ninja with super reflexes, a spirit medium, an oil magnate, an extremely lucky boy, and an extremely strong man were to fight it out in a rock-paper-scissors tournament, who would you bet your money on? Just because it's a simple game with simple rules doesn't mean the matches will be simple. Mind games, cheat abilities, interesting characters, great humor, this manga has it all!

100/100Galaxy brain mind games with a host of supernatural and ridiculous powersContinue on AniListUltimate Rock Paper Scissors is one the greatest manga i have ever read, I didn't think a 20 chapter manga could fit such a masterpiece within it. 8 individuals all with a unique special powers facing off at the holy game of rock paper scissors with the prize being a single wish, which can grant whatever the winner desires. I say powers, but not all of them are what you'd expect. Like an oil sheikh who's really really rich and just plans to pay everyone else off and give him the wish. You also have the MVP Tadashi who has the power of being a extremely lucky wholesome boi which makes him nigh unbeatable. It even has a guy who enters a rock paper scissor tournament with nothing but the power of his rippling muscles what a fucking chad. While this manga may seem like just a meme, the fights and character interactions are unironically great and really makes all the matches an intellectual battle of using their powers against one another. Some of the fights are just kind of throw away silly ones but when the manga wants to take a fight seriously it becomes incredibly big brain. We are introduced to the mechanics of each character's power and under what conditions they function so that all the plays make sense and lets you think for yourself about how match ups would play out. One fight particular goes into detail about how two similar powers face off against each other and the fact that this is all about rock paper scissors makes all the games conceptually hilarious when you see how complex they become. The character motives both make sense and are hilarious and some characters have legitimate character arcs. There is also a level of world building that I didn't expect that ends up coming back and linking characters together in surprising way. Due the short length of the series, I don't feel like there is really a dull moment, every part of it either progressing character relationships/setting things up or the games themselves. If I had to say a negative, it would be that the final battle is not the best battle which can result in your expectations for it being too high. Not that this battle is bad, to the contrary its still fantastic, It all culminates in an all star cast final battle thats puts battle shounens to shame, linking up all the characters we've been introduced to and having their powers combine and face off against each over. Its just not quite as good as the legendary semi-finals and can seem a bit more rushed in comparison. Ultimately, I don't really have anything significantly bad to say about this manga, especially with it only be 20 chapters. It does so much in those chapters that even if you don't enjoy the comedy or fights or any other part, you'll still enjoy at least some part and be able to get something out of it.
