DESCRIPTION
You awaken in a decrepit old mansion.
A woman with eyes of jade stands before You, informing You that You are the Master of the house, and she Your Maid. However, You have no memories, no concept of self—or, indeed, any certainty that You are even alive.
The Maid invites You to join her on a journey through the mansion's lifeless halls, to behold the numerous tragedies that have befallen its residents. She suggests that among them, perhaps You will find some trace of Yourself.
Beyond the first door lies the year 1603.
It is an era of unparalleled beauty, where art and theatre flourish. Roses bloom abundantly in the garden where the inseparable Rhodes siblings play, and though they appear to be free of worry and strife... not everyone is content to see them happy.
Beyond the second door lies the year 1707.
In this era, the mansion lies in ruins, and a beast dwells within. He claims to yearn for a life of serenity, but it is not long before he yields to his innate savagery and a massacre ensues.
Beyond the third door lies the year 1869.
In this technologically advanced era, people are always on the move. The mansion's master is an ambitious businessman who has invested in the rail industry. However, his obsession with wealth and power leads him to neglect and mistreat his wife.
Beyond the fourth door lies the year 1099.
The Maid tells You that this is the final tale. In this era, You see a young man who claims to be cursed and a girl with white hair, called Giselle, who has been branded a witch and marked for death.
Having borne witness to these four tragedies, each set in a different time and place, You are now free to choose whether You wish to end Your story here... or press on.
But there are those who would say, "You were able to bear them because they weren't your tragedies."

100/100Human Fallibility and Beauty through Tragedy { A spoiler Free review of Fata Morgana }Continue on AniListWe all lose sight of ourselves our intentions become muddled and sometimes even leave us cascading into uncertainty and madness.
Fata Morgana is a story that shows the fallibility of humanity and the circumstances that bring about the inevitable tragedy in the presentation of the narrative, and the characters that are slowly introduced into the supernatural setting which is hellbent on bringing misfortune to anyone involved.
The characters in Fata Morgana are very much human they are not linear in their motives or actions, but I believe that is the beauty of Fata it relies heavily upon characterization which I believe it does splendidly. The emotions the characters convey in their actions and their motivations may seem irrational and cold at first, but as they are revealed as an observer you cannot help but be sympathetic with their plights, and yes even with characters that you may loathe at first you may cry for in the end [ I know I did ]. And as their tragedies intertwine Fata Morgana's beauty begins to shine even brighter, and by the end of it all you will be praying for their individual happiness.
The story itself is shrouded in mystery which is revealed as it progresses providing surprising revelations tying in all elements of the story, that will surely keep you immersed while traversing through that darkness. Having said that, however, the story isn't necessarily a hopeless Shakespearean tragedy [ Even though it has a lot of elements derived from his plays] where everything is about the bleak hopelessness of the character's circumstances and actions, It's also about hope and acceptance of one's faults and understanding the essence of one's emotions and how they are conveyed toward others, the roles that are forced upon oneself through the circumstance of birth or actions and how despite that we mustn't lose sight of ourselves and succumb to negative hateful emotions no matter how justified we may feel because we may lose sight of ourselves for all eternity.
I do not believe I can put my thoughts into words [ Ironic since I'm writing a review if you can even call it that ] about how amazing Fata Morgana is without going into excruciating detail about the story, and the characters. Even then I don't think I could I don't think I am skilled enough as this is my first real "review" to convey how much of a masterpiece Fata Morgana is, but I assure you that the emotions you feel and the characters that you encounter throughout the story will bring about a newfound perspective into the understanding of the medium and future stories that you will have the pleasure of reading in the future, so I hope that my jumbled up mess that I call a review will pique your interest somewhat.
If you have read this far I thank you and hope that you will have the same breathtaking experience in this tragic tale through time.
All criticism is welcome as I am looking to improve my understanding of literature thank you and goodbye.

100/100"Sometimes, we uncover the most profound lessons about love and life within the depths of tragedy."Continue on AniListStory: 10/10
The House in Fata Morgana's story is like a beautiful setting for a play. At its core, this light novel is a tragic love story spanning multiple generations. As the narrative progresses, more and more layers are revealed, unveiling a masterfully constructed literary complexion permeated with myriad nuances and perfectly polished to give the viewer a deep sense of satisfaction when each of its mysteries are uncovered. Each story arc is intricately woven into the overarching plot, leading to a revelation that will leave you awe-struck and emotionally moved. Throughout the story, you will be confronted with thought-provoking themes of fate, hope, identity, revenge, forgiveness, and most prominently, love. Its avant-garde method of storytelling was perfectly executed. The prose is poetic, though, unlike a picturesque, Shakespearean tragedy. It's raw, harsh, and unembellished. Humans can be deplorable, and Fata Morgana does not hide this fact. Though unforgiving in this regard, the juxtaposition of pure sorrow and unparalleled happiness is what got me invested in the series. The only aspect of this LN that people may find undesirable is its slow-paced writing requires much patience. However, this is necessary to build up the story's masterful climaxes.Characters: 10/10
The most compelling part of Fata Morgana is its characters. They are complex, multi-dimensional, and beautifully developed. The characterization is subtle yet profound, mainly through small talk and other forms of dialogue. From this process, you eventually learn to know the characters deeply and personally. You understand their idiosyncrasies and characteristics, and they become more than pixels on a screen. You start empathizing with them, feeling their pain, and even crying. Some of my favorite moments in the story were casual small talk. These brief moments of happiness made everything so much more painful to see it all crumble. They may seem insignificant to some, but without them, the story would lose any weight; it would be utterly superficial. But the depth the characters bring to Fata Morgana is what makes it so evocative. The main character, in particular, is my favorite person in all fiction. And not because he's perfect; he's far from it. But it's through his individuality, flaws, and shortcomings and how he tries to overcome them that you begin to see him as a human. The same goes for Jacopo, who, sometimes, isn't even a good person. But it's through his circumstances and flaws that we see a(minor spoilers)surprisingly timid man and a great character. Finally, while I can't say much about the antagonist, I will say they have one of the most tragic backstories… ever. Overall, I can't praise the characters in this story enough. They aptly portray concepts like insanity, grief, greed, and love. The relationships they form are filled with joy and heartbreak, leaving a lasting impact on the viewer long after you finish reading.Visuals: 9/10
Everything from the beautiful covers to the fantastic illustrations, this light novel looks great, perfectly complementing the exceptional story.Enjoyment: 10/10
Fata Morgana was entirely enthralling; not once did I find myself bored or disinterested, especially towards the latter half of the LN. The suspense was practically palpable, keeping you on the edge of your seat. However, this light novel can be gut-wrenching and hard to read. But while the story is full of sorrow and suffering, that only amplifies and adds more worth to the moments of ecstasy and happiness. After all, a tale devoid of tragedy and contention is nothing but a superficial fantasy. Conclusion
The House in Fata Morgana is an experience. An experience you won't see replicated anywhere else in fiction. An experience spanning a millennium. An experience drenched in tragedy and tribulation. An experience permeated by love and joy. It's not something you'll forget in weeks, months, or even years. It's not ephemeral and will leave a lasting impression on those who embark on this journey through time and space, delivering an unforgettable, remarkable literary tale.
