80/100A female fantasy that's worth all your attentionContinue on AniListhttps://anilist.co/manga/114542/Your-Throne/
I hated Women targeted shows. Just search "Indian TV Drama scenes" and have a crack, cause I definitely didn't as a kid. They are just advertisements that are just soooo overly overdramatic, filled with dumb characters & relationship ideas, a pacing that killed all the interest I have in a show (if I actually had in the first place) and they are ridiculously many shows like that which ruined most of my TV time in my childhood days. And when your parents refuses to watch what you like on the only TV in house without internet & phone, I grew up despising them a lot and I still do btw (The ones on Netflix and Prime like Breathe or Family Guy are pretty great tho they aren't women-only). So, when I heard the overpopulation of villainess manhwas that target girls and females, my initial impression was; "Yup! Not my shit". Colorful art, simpable characters, twisted relationships and a lot of insertable female leads makes these a perfect bait for female audience and a certain someone I know, ate the living shit out of these.
But when I heard some of my males friends also liking this, I got a bit intrigued. The statistics for this one on MAL(8.23/10) & AL(83%) are looking promising too, so I gave a try. While I can still see the above traits & cliches, Your Throne certainly seems to offer more than just a typical female fantasy.
A Demon & an Angel Medea & Psyche. The two main leads the story is all about. One is an 'all according to keikkaku', merciless, powerful & 'got rejected princess' and the other is an 'all love everyone', kind, weak & 'got accepted' princess; except they are not. They both start off this individual journey when one fine day, in the presence of God they started to live each other lives after their "bodies got swapped".
Medea's personality, attitude and just her overall aura demands a presence you cannot ignore and seeing her succeeding with her plans is an entertaining read. And Psyche's angelic presence is as much of a cite too. Medea is an anti-heroine, and other than her strategic plans, what's compelling about her, is her 'character depth', understanding her hunger for power and being more than just a ball of revenge & hatred. Psyche's a damsel in distress, a God gifted angel who found out that her sparkling heaven was nothing more than a golden cage and what's compelling about her is her 'character development', seeing her becoming more stronger and break from her chains of ignorance & naivety (though she is still a long way for it, as of writing this). While they were selfish at first, they started to understand each other by living each others lives. Psyche finds out how much Medea had to sacrifice in order to become the strong self she is now, and Medea understands what Psyche had gone through which led her to become the fragile self she is now. And their journey to become a better self than they were while supporting each other, is damn great to witness. This duality that exists between them is what makes this special.Yes! Ma Lady! A strong sense of Loyalty is one thing the side cast always encapsulate. For some characters, their loyalty defines their entire personality. Some are loyal by pure love and dedication to their master & position, and some are loyal by pure fear & driven by personal gain. This gets addressed quite often in the story and provides a way to sympathize & understand all the characters, and it comes off in a really honest & easy way to maintain such a load of characters without loosing track of them. While some important characters have their own roles to play and own tropes to look forward to, it's ultimately their loyalty that shapes who they are in this story.
This dialogue kinda sums up what I feel about the character designs. They are too dazzling. Needs to get addressed The manhwa is still continuing but even after 100 long chapters worth of content, few things still are lacking or need to get more attention.

I don't have a problem with bland & 1 dimensional villains actually. All they ever do is become as hateable as possible, and 'Eros Orna Vasilios' isn't any different. On a surface level, Eros & Medea doesn't look all different actually; both are manipulative, both come from a royal backdrop and
both are pretty, but we see a difference because we follow Medea's journey to become the crown princess. I'm not asking for a ground breaking villain but when you have a story rich in character and depth, seeing the main antagonist as a 1 dimensional villain feels a bit dissatisfaction, more so when he's basically the one who's center of all the conflict in the story. Hope his character becomes more interesting. "Why he's bad?" is pretty obvious, he just wants to be the sole discord moderator for Vasilios server (& probably others too), but "What's drove him so bad?". Just like how
Medea backstory with her nani explains how & why she became a villainess helped to understand her, what drove Eros so bad might make him understandable as well.
Because the last thing I want is having male villain with a better face than mine (that came unexpectedly honest from myself). -
The thriller aspect gets a little down as it progresses, while the drama and the psychological aspects hold pretty strong. Some moments really delivers some spinetingling chills and heartfelt moments. But the fantasy element doesn't go in depth. It gets introduced, brings a slight conflict and settles itself pretty fast in the backdrop. It only exists to drive the plot, certainly the least among of all of it strengths cause it doesn't even get addressed often and offers tropes that are already done & done well in other stories.
Your Throne is pretty excellent with some cliches around the edges and a few elements that need a little more tuning to make it a much greater story. It has a spectacle of an art style, rich with character depth and interesting scenarios. So;
