DESCRIPTION
Sweet but awkward college student Asumi never got over her childhood crush on her old friend Mai. She’s mortified by the memory of their first kiss, which couldn’t have gone worse. When she discovers that Mai may be working at a nearby brothel, she sees her chance for redemption. There’s only one catch: none of the girls on the brothel’s website use their real names. Goaded along by a more experienced friend, Asumi begins a journey of exploring her sexuality, trying new fetishes, and getting comfortable in her own skin as she sleeps with the brothel’s women one at a time in her search for Mai. Is it possible Mai is searching for her out there, too? And when they finally reunite, will Asumi be experienced and confident this time?

85/100Lewd, wholesome, and a whirlwind of doki doki/"KYAHHHH~!!" feelingsContinue on AniList**A whole lotta wholesome in a whole lotta ecchi** I would like to preface this review by saying that AiIiLB (Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels) wasn't deceptive in its genre nor its titling. I was initially hooked by both title and cover art for I had searched for a yuri doujin and instead found this, __ a sweet gem with a whole lotta wholesome in a whole lotta ecchi..__
8/10
Plot (plot? like legitimate plot?)
Yes, plot, as in plot plot, not plot as in fanservice, but plot as in story.. Though, there is plenty of fanservice too. AiIiLB has a simple synopsis that doesn't cascade but does expand into a cohesive and enjoyable storyline.Plainly put, Asumi, the main lead, is looking for her childhood friend who she fell out of contact with in the passing of time. Having had left on awkward notes and without pointer of where Mai could be, surprise surprise! She's actually working in a lesbian brothel. You can see where the story leads, and as shallow as other titles carrying the ecchi tag are, this one has its fair (albeit small) portion of story.
________________ __
7.5/10 Characters, Lewdity and Wholesomeness~~~__ With as many "cover girls" as there are fingers on my hand (and plenty more), the lead finds herself in a variety of scenes engaged in the wholesome, in the depraved, and in the "_KYAHHH, THIS IS SO EMBARRASSINGLY GOOD_!!!" This rollercoaster of second-hand embarrassment is second to none from shameful inexperience to sheepish admittance of the lead's progress. Of the cast sharing their screentime, there's only minute feelings of wasted panels or "porn for the sake of porn." Throughout the reading experience, there are few characters that stick with the main lead. In support, in peership, or sticking around just for the sake of fucking with her for shits and giggles, each character have some necessity in pushing along the story. Spoiler word splurge:AND THAT PROGRESSION OF BECOMING A LIVE IN MAID WHICH BLOSSOMED INTO A ONE-SIDED RELATIONSHIP WHILE EXPLORING LESBIAN BROTHELS **AND** LOOKING FOR YOUR LOST LOVE/FRIEND AND THEN SOMEHOW BECOMING FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS, KYAHHHHHHHHHHH And this is all the while learning more of herself and even learning life lessons from these escort girls, which was strangely wholesome. ________________ __
7/10 Production: Art, Dialogue, and Pacing
__ This series feels far from over and with only 25 chapters between its four volumes, it's production has been more than fair. But as much as I enjoy sharing in the lead's embarrassment and her exploration of lesbian brothels, there have been times where I thought (as a casual reader) the production felt a tad off. Art, art is beautiful and this mangaka *did not* disappoint. The illustrations of lascivious acts, the human anatomy, and occasional goofy panel made for an enjoyable reading experience. However, when coupled with the awkward dialogue provided by (what I assume to be) machine or real amateur human translations, some scenes felt as though they weren't conveyed correctly. The author played no part in this issue, but I felt I still had to mention it. As for pacing, I'm just sour I have to wait until March of 2025 for more of this story. I really enjoyed what I have read so far and am looking forward to reading more from this author. ________________
**TLDR**
Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels is a slow-burning (exclusively) yuri manga series rooted in doki-doki moments. Should one find enjoyment in slice of life/ecchi genres and their NSFW content (but without actually showing anything), this one is a recommended side read. It's to be backburned and enjoyed at leisure. It lacks the necessary volumes to truly binge read, and while it has little plotpoints, it is driven by a decent cast that strive to push the story forward. To reiterate, this is __ a sweet gem with a whole lotta wholesome in a whole lotta ecchi..__
