70/100Chihiro-kun Only Has Eyes For her but he was to learn more about romanceContinue on AniListThe manga Chihiro-kun Only Has Eyes For Me is centered around the aspiring fashion designer Chihiro-kun and "his muse" Michi as the main protagonists. The first chapter with the infamous line "Take your clothes off you are my muse" might be daunting, but don't worry! Behind the nonsensical artist, there is a shy and sweet boy who is working hard to fulfill his dream.
~~~ The idea of a "muse" and "artist" is charming, but it loses some of its depth due to the characters being too young. I feel that the story would work much better if the characters were older as some situations are quite forced for first-year high school students (although the story progresses and now they are in their second year, but it's still the case). It's almost comical how, at the opening of the manga, we get the impression that the protagonists have no parents or responsible adults: for example, at the very beginning of the story, the female protagonist simply decides to spend a night at Chihiro-kun's house/studio and does so even though they are not dating and don't know each other well. Many aspects of the main couple's relationship are decided and resolved abruptly, without much development. Also, there are various aspects of their past that are introduced at the start of the manga but are not elaborated on as the story progresses. Since the author ends the first few chapters with a thank you note, I believe that the continuation of the manga was done without much planning as she intended to make a shorter story. The relationship between the protagonists is very cute, however, I need to point out that it's quite funny how some of the "romantic" situations in the manga are not romantic at all: in one of them, Chihiro-kun "kidnaps" Michi while she is in the middle of a date with a friend from school, makes her wear a huge puff dress and high heels to finally make her jump over a high fence just to take pictures of her in front of a church (and all of this is supposedly a "present" for Michi) LOL ~~~ Must say that the art of the manga is a great highlight. It is very detailed and the characters are very cute. The clothes are a standout aspect, given their prominence in the story. I find myself in love with many of Chihiro-kun's creations, wishing to wear them in real life! :') As a conclusion, despite the lack of depth in the story and the (sometimes) flawed romance, I consider it an adorable manga and recommend it as a lighthearted read mainly if you're interested in the world of fashion designers and miss Paradise Kiss. I'll continue reading and following the world of this young aspiring fashion designer and his muse, hoping that the story develops further and we can fall more and more in love with it.
