70/100Spoiler-free review of Hikikomori Niizuma. The emotional struggles of a newlywed.Continue on AniList════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Considerations ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ● __This is a spoiler-free review.__ ● 70+ in my rating means average. ● I've got to read this work on a friend's recommendation. I didn't look too much into the synopsis and just started reading. ● This manga deals with heavy themes such as depression and suicidal thoughts. If you feel like those themes are sensitive topics for you, please skip the manga. If you are struggling with any issue, call your country's hotline. Take care ♡. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The Story ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Marriage should be the union of two people in love who are ready to live together forever in happiness. Or so she thought. That's the story of how Ura became a shut-in after marriage. The story of Hikikomori Niizuma is good. It's an autobiography of the struggles that the author faced with her own marriage. I like how it's not only dark but the author inserts some comical relief to break some of the heavy vibes. Although the story is pretty depressing. I think it's important to say that the story does end on a positive note. It even has a pretty good message at the end, and I felt that it was worth my time. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The Art Style ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The art style is pretty simple. That's the __first serialization of the author__, and her character design is pretty good. Proportions were pretty well done, and I especially liked how the art got more serious and detailed when she's trying to be more serious. (Shoujo/Josei.jpg) Backgrounds are very lacking. Sometimes it's just white or dark panels, but as a first serialization and as it is focused on the drama. It wasn't a huge loss for me. (Me-irl) ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The Characters ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ There are a very small number of characters in this manga. Ura, her husband, and a few friends. Anything besides Ura isn't very developed, with just a few mentions of her partner mentality here and there. As I always like to talk about the main characters, Ura was good. Although the work is an autobiography, it gets pretty dark and depressive. I was able to feel empathy towards her and understand her struggles. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Conclusion ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ If you're like me, you skip everything and read only the conclusion because you don't want to get spoiled with other themes. So I will try to be brief on this point: Maybe read it. Honestly, I feel like that's more of a manga that will be appealing to a very small niche. I personally rate it as a 70 because it made me think of a sort of emotional distress that I had never thought about before.
