57/100It’s Walmart Overlord?Continue on AniListI’m catching up to Overlord as I write this review, and yup, this show is indeed a Walmart Overlord. Arc is basically Ainz but nicer, and Arc is overpowered as well. The cast isn’t too big, as it’s only Arc, Ariane, Chiyome, and Ponta basically, the other characters are so insignificant they might as well be specks in the wind. I enjoyed this series at first, but then it got rather repetitive as it’s mostly just saving various groups of people, usually elves, and that got dry rather quickly.
My grading criteria: Story: /25 Art: /10 Music: /10 Characters: /20 Enjoyment /15 Thematic Execution /20
STORY: 11/25
Another typical isekai where the protagonist is overpowered and there is little to no reference to the person in the real world. Just your typical protagonist that goes around saving various people, and of course there are some companions like Ariane and Chiyome that also don’t have much of a distinct personality. The story is quite repetitive in that Arc gets hired by people to rescue their tribes, or to help them with a “quest”.
The politics… I did not care one bit about the politics because it was all dialogue and little to no action. In fact, I barely remember what the politics are since the world building was so minimal.
ART: 6.5/10
The fight scenes are cool sometimes, and the animation is ok, but there are too many still frames in fights, and that’s too bad. Guess the budget wasn’t that big.
MUSIC: 8.3/10
The music is solid, and what I really liked was the ending theme but DIALOGUE+, one of my favourite endings of the season.
CHARACTERS: 10/20
The characters are fun to watch, as the interactions are enjoyable, but they don’t have enough personality to keep me completely invested. Arc is kind of like Ainz from Overlord as he has his “knight voice”, and his inner voice that is more like a normal person. Ariane is fun to watch but also has little to no personality. The other characters have the same issues, as they’re just not memorable, and because they aren’t memorable, I barely have anything to say. They’re just fine, there’s nothing wrong with them, they’re just boring at times to watch.
The villains are your typical clueless villains that aren’t that smart, and aren’t very engaging to watch. Arc, Ariane, and Chiyome usually finish them off in a matter of minutes.
ENJOYMENT: 9.7/15
It was exciting enough at the beginning, but fell off as it got repetitive.
THEMATIC EXECUTION: 11/20
The world building wasn’t too good, so all the political themes weren’t executed very well. The comedic themes are solid, and they make the series somewhat fun, the fight sequences are a bit unfocused as it just seems like the characters are having fun, rather than committing to fighting the enemy, it just seems quite casual.
OVERALL: 56.5/100
A rather repetitive plot with a lot of rescuing, mixed with comedy, and a more “nice” Ainz. The start of the show was promising, but the repetitive and uninspiring plot lines, it became somewhat dull near the end. Yet another average isekai, with its ups and downs.

65/100Man Turns Into A Skeleton KnightContinue on AniListI first heard of Skeleton Knight in Another World when I was at a bookstore and saw Volume 1 of the LN series on one of the shelves. When I heard that very same LN series was going to have an anime adaptation, I was naturally intrigued by it and decided to watch the whole season. Here are my thoughts regarding the anime.
STORY
A gamer falls asleep while playing an MMORPG and wakes up and finds himself in the world of that game as Arc, his character who is a skeleton wearing knight's armor. He decides to explore the world and eventually meets travel companions such as a spirit creature named Ponta, a dark elf named Ariane, and a ninja beast-girl named Chiyome. Ariane and Chiyome hire Arc to free the enslaved elves and beast-people from the oppressive human empires. Majority of the later episodes involve the main cast rescuing them from the clutches of their captors.
ART
Animation was decent, for some parts such when the main characters are further away in distance they use CGI models, but it wasn't that distracting. In fight scenes there were a few still frames. I suppose that Studio KAI wasn't given that high of a budget and had to deal with what they had.
MUSIC
I enjoyed the music, especially the ending theme, Bokura ga Orokadanante Dare ga Itta by DIALOGUE+. The opening was sung by Pelle K, a singer who is known for doing heavy rock covers of anime OPs. I believe this is the first original OP he has done for an anime series. Regarding the background music, it was fitting for the high fantasy setting of the show.
CHARACTERS
The main cast was the highlight of the show. Arc is a bit goofy, but, he is also polite and willing to help those in need. Ariane is distrustful of humans due them enslaving her kind, of course over time that changes when traveling with Arc. Ponta is basically just there to be the cute mascot of the show. Chiyome wasn't as fleshed out in this, but, hopefully if there ever is a second season, we can see more of her character. The villains and monsters were mainly just there to thwarted easily by our heroes, that's all I can really say about them.
FINAL VERDICT
Is this anime a masterpiece? No. Is it awful? No. But, it is an enjoyable high fantasy isekai that you can kick back and relax to. If that's your kind of thing, then give this show a watch.

20/100Another shitty Overlord clone with an added creep factorContinue on AniListTRIGGER WARNING: SEXUAL ASSAULT
Skeleton Knight in Another World is another shitty Overlord clone with an added creep factor. All of the villains are sadistic rapists and murderers. From the first minute to the last episode, the excessive sexual assault scenes are drawn like sexy fanservice and framed as titillation for men. It's disgusting, awful, and uncomfortable to watch because it is grotesquely fetishistic and does nothing but remind you the creators don't care about victims. Anime is infamous for sexualizing rape to appeal to the lowest common denominator rather than portraying it as it is; a brutal life-altering crime.
"But it's entertainment" no, it's creepy, and it's lazy writing. Every female character (even the ones with swords) is victimized or threatened with sexual assault. The vast majority of the plot is repetitively spent rescuing enslaved elf girls wearing nothing but tattered clothes. Filling the whole anime is its constant glorification of sex as violence. The way they dehumanize everyone except for the dull protagonist gives the impression that no one else matters.
Arc is another average isekai hero who leads the generic plot, which is just one predictable encounter after another. He is merely a collection of isekai cliches posing as a hero; a gamer trapped in his favorite role-playing game, girls fall in love with him for no reason, he is dense as a boulder, overpowered, and immortal. At least I can say that he's not a pervert. When his busty companion inevitably attempts jumping his bones (literally), he rejects her. This is not a harem despite how many boobs throw themselves at Arc, but his utter lack of personality traits makes him the perfect vehicle for a sexually frustrated viewer to live vicariously through.
Despite his unusual appearance, he's such a lifeless protagonist. Any attempts at tongue-in-cheek jokes fall flat. Rather than delivering exposition through wordy internal monologues alone, he speaks aloud in his childish voice, confusing everyone around him, then quickly returning to his gritty mercenary voice. They copied this gag from Overlord, and it's never funny. The entire script is devoid of originality; it prioritizes tensionless fight scenes and fanservice over establishing backstories, developing its vapid characters, or building its unimaginative world.
You can predict the outcome of every fight because they only exist to show how 'cool' the skeleton knight is. They even fail at that simple goal because the art is mediocre, and the animation is as dynamic as a slide show. Aside from Arc, the character designs are indistinguishable from other copy-pasted isekai fodder. Arc undermines the few unique action scenes by intruding to explain concepts we can witness and sort ourselves. We can't be trusted to see wolves attacking Arc using clones because we are simply too idiotic, or at least the creators think their audience is mindless.
Any typical fanservice is overwhelmed by viscerally misogynist moments of fetishized violence. The frame lingers on women's cut-up bodies, torture, and sadistic punishments for no reason other than for your enjoyment. It ogles the women as they suffer and expects you to like it. That is the anime's real money maker. Its appeal has nothing to do with a "Skelton Knight in Another World" because the superficial title is nothing but marketing bait. I can understand the morbid curiosity about a trainwreck as vile as this one, but there is no pay-off. Only misery.
