30/100Good start but the story went downhillContinue on AniListI've read til chapter 60. This review is more of a rant. Maybe I had high expectations from the start.
It had a good start, but after he got separated from the FL, she didn't appear in like 40 chapters... The initial personality of the MC implied that he was like: I don't wan't you near but what I want to protect you nonetheless. No problem with that, but how it was portrayed seemed so unnatural, that it just gives an awkward vibe.
And when it seemed that he had capable subordinates of all genders, suddenly it got converted into a subtle harem. The subordinates seem to like him for no reason whatsoever, or at least it is not explained why all those subordinates that are stronger than him, follow him, saving him everytime. It seems like all the strength that he manages to gather after years of training, are not enough. It just feels like the MC is just useless.
Overall, the story does not seem to explain that much the story. Although you can just along with it, and start understanding more because of the hints that the story gives, it is not properly done. How he initially obtained his powers, how he became a tiger, why he goes to certain places, just for the sake of going? yeah, if there is some treasure there, care to explain a bit? Everything just feels kinda incomplete. Even his feelings for the FL. Okay, I understand, it needs developement, but this guy isn't a stoic man as he seems with the FL, because his reactions with the other girls around him portrays him as a person that can be attracted to the opposite gender. Why is it that in 60 chapters he had more reactions towards other girls other than the FL? Am I getting those japanese mangas vibes where hot chicks appear everywhere?
This is more of a personal preference. I don't like harems, it just ruins every good story. I understand, that because he is the protagonist, everything has to go around him, but, with some kind of justification please. Why does all the girls like him for no apparent reason? The girls could have a good background story, so why you just put an overpowered woman by his side not introducing her at all? I'm pretty sure their history will be hundred times more interesting than his non-sensical journey of become strong for no reason. Oh no, true, he is becoming strong for the FL secretly, but has no desire to bring her by her side yet. Also, didn't the FL attract some kind of goblins/monsters/beasts/demons... because of her blood? Why is it that she was unharmed all those 14 years when the story depicted it as a dead sentece to have her near? It is not like she hided, she became a taoist and displayed her power... Why is it that initially, he acknowledges that dangerous beings may be attracted to her, but now completely ignores that fact without worrying for her safety? Or was it that the author just forgot about what was written at the start of the story?
Everything just feels incomplete and incoherent. Pretty sure that the novel is more specific, but this just seems cheap. It has no depth, there is no straight way, the plot armor seems to evident and cliche. The world building is just incomplete, characters appear because they have to appear, and you find yourself not knowing who half of them are. And well, I don't like the MC's personality in general. The whole thing of "I'm going to protect my people" it isn't a complete goal. You become stronger for a bigger purpose, not only because you want strength, because there is no reason to only be strong. Lifespan? Only if you desire to spend it on anything, it doesn't seem like a valid reason if not. Strength is a mean to an end, protecting people near you is for something greater, not only to roam around swinging your sword and making your harem bigger. For me, everything lacks the "Why".
It just seems like the author just wants to have girls with notable b**bs and all the men are only forgettable extras. It is really disappointing, that the mere existence of a female character is to always support the MC, not being able to shine by herself. I'm sick of stories like this. Why can't the companions of the MC be a mix between boys and girls, where the girls don't stick with him because they are all attracted? And where it is allowed for other male characters to be stronger than the MC and not all of them being only villains? It is not reasonable. It doesn't make sense. Why are all the characters, except the protagonists, greedy, arrogant and evil bastards? Every single one? Even the MC is a greedy bastard, even he is egotistic. But because he is the MC, he doesn't have any kind of retribution while every other character does.
In short, the MC seems dumb, the story is incomplete, it lacks every single factor of world building, the plot armor is just too evident, all the girls are pushovers, the MC has a male repelent, not allowing any male character to be near him, and inconsistencies are everywhere. Not really worth reading.
And this is my rant.
