DESCRIPTION
"It's an unfashionable monster. Even vampires are no match for them."
Araragi Koyomi was consulted by his friend, Hamukai Meniko, about her falling out with her boyfriend.
He himself had just been told by Hitagi Senjougahara that she is breaking up with him — along with an apology.
Koyomi deduced that this commotion was the work of oddity.
He goes to Oshino Ougi, an expert in the field of oddities.
This modern day oddity! Oddity! Oddity!

90/100I'd like Araragi Koyomi to apologize for this review.Continue on AniListI'd like to wholeheartedly apologize for my reviews. I barely even cover what is the heart of this novels and don't subdivide into CHARACTERS, STORY, WORDPLAY, CONCLUSION with individuals scores. I continue to tempt the higher being that is Anilist-san (please read this review after reading the story itself as intended like I swear it makes sense if you have read the novel like that's the whole point or I could just ramble elsewhere trust me I want to.
I will fall to my knees as we maybe in the golden age of Monster Season in its penultimate stage especially with the Off & Monster Season adaptation within days of releasing for Summer 2024. I want to be given a chance.
I want to apologize...for absolutely nothing.
I am aware that I am asking too much from this. But that is the point of this novel, Ougimonogatari. The light casts down on Araragi the biggest dropout in the history of Naoetsu High post his golden age of his third year of high school. As someone who continues to fail by imposing their own ideologues on others even though he knows better than anyone else that you can only save yourself. Ougi Light was really good especially by how it really parallels the way that Shinobumonogatari is a generational forward and backwards on Kizumonogatari and the origin of thralls/vampires while Ougimonogatari is I would say akin to Nekomonogatari Kuro as the capstone to Bakemonogatari's run (yes yes I know Kizu is not part of Bakemono but alas). Araragi both ignoring and forcing his own way of handling things in as violent and at the end of the day unapologetic way is really cool to see here some many volumes since the origin of this seres. Although if we think about it, Araragi hasn't been able to really help any of these people in Monster Season. And that's ok. There's no reason to apologize for that. All we can do is listen.
Nadeko Nadeko Nadeko yo. I can happy to see the insane build up has paid off. I talked about the lineage in Amarimonogatari's review but this one really just took it perfectly because even if I saw the escalation, the actual interplay between the main story (which is Nadeko's storyline of course right) to the bonus story (Araragi's little college adventures which happened to be flipped around when complied in a volume wow what a silly guy this NisiOisiN is teehee) of the link between apologies, victimizing, and Nadeko at the center of it all or maybe the origin of it. The best conman definitely was on my mind when Nadeko was talking to her friends but never in 10,000 years would I have expected his return. I am so so so so excited for this final double entry. Hopefully I'll be finished with it before the start of this very interesting anime adaptation. As a lot of my reviews stem from the structure that Isin plays within and amongst the novel, the arc, and the season, I would be sad if Nadeko's main story would get consolidated and lack all the subtext that is ripe for analysis. But maybe when we can stop beating AROUND the bush and KILL this season off monstrously.
