100/100In short, nice art style, good storyline, good characters, good character designs, and good character development.Continue on AniList(Currently on chapter 17)
I feel like "I love Amy" is quite the underrated manhwa.
(Art style & Character design) I personally like the art style in "I love Amy." The art style in "I love Amy" seems to be simple yet eye catching. The colours pop and the expressions are easy to understand.
I also find the character designs in "I love Amy" very good.
As an example, I will use Amy and Bibi.Amy's design consists of downward slanted eyes, messy/spiky short hair with bangs that covers the eyes, and band-aids on both legs. Lots of it.
To me, Amy's eyes and hair already shows that her character is meant to be someone who is not confident and is fearful or kind. Meanwhile, the band-aids may be the author's way of telling us readers that Amy is "broken." With broken meaning the trauma Amy has with cars or even her relationship with Camilla.
And then there's Bibi. Bibi's design, in contrast to Amy's design, is bubbly and bright. This even comes through with the colours. Amy having brown hair and brown eyes while Bibi has blonde hair and white eyes.
Bibi's design consists of large round eyes, straight long hair with a middle parting and bangs that does not cover the eyes, and large heart pupils.
Despite how bubbly and bright Bibi's designs are, her expressions are often quite unsettling. Her large round eyes with large heart pupils can be quite creepy at times. Bibi often wears her hair in twin tails. This hairstyle is often associated with children.
To me, the twin tails implied that Bibi is a carefree individual and the bangs which does not cover her eyes told us that she is a rather confident individual.
(Tension) We, the readers of "I love Amy" get to see the tension between the characters without anyone in particular being the "villain" in the story. This tension in particular would be Amy and Camilla. If you don't remember, Amy is the main character and Camilla is the ex friend Amy had. They think the other hates them and it complicates because they never communicated it out with one another. (Honestly pretty interesting since this reflects some real world friendships.
The tension between the two characters does not feel like some unnecessary drama that was added in just to spice things up. Sure, it's there to create a more interesting story but it doesn't feel like it.
The part that I can use as an example for this is what happened between Amy and Camilla in chapter 18. I know I said I'm currently on chapter 17 but I read a butchered up version of chapter 18 since I was being an impatient kid. XD
I'm talking about the part where they almost talked but Amy ended up running away because of Camilla's friend. The fear felt genuine. A moral lesson can also be taken from the dynamic between these two characters. To be courageous. Do not assume what others think. To communicate. It's so simple and yet so many people are unable to act it out.
(Feels alive) In my personal opinion "I love Amy" is a manhwa that has characters that makes it feel alive. The way the characters interact with one another feels real. I personally can relate to Amy and Camilla's dynamics, and I'm sure lots of other people can too. I also see good character development happening in the near future of this manhwa, so I'm sticking around to see what will happen next.
This manhwa personally connected deeply with me. I wish I had something like "I love Amy" when I was younger as I may have gotten the courage to try and talk it out with my ex best friend.
If you have any interest that relates to stuff like psychology or character development, I definitely recommend this manhwa. I'm already quite obsessed with this manhwa and can't wait for the next chapter. XDD

90/100meaningful wholesome perfectionContinue on AniList‘I Love Amy’ is the story of a timid girl named Amy Lee and another girl named Bibi (Beatrice) Reden and how they work through hardships with a friendship turned to love. To put it shortly, I love this manhwa. Everything from the art style to the characters to the pacing filled me with a joy I can’t even begin to describe.
The story starts with yandere girl Bibi Reden who thinks she’s fallen in love with popular boy Peter. Upon seeing some girl (Amy) talking to him she decides to invite the girl over and take her out. But when the girl comes over she finds that she may enjoy her presence. And so the two become friends and Bibi has Amy help her get with Peter.
The story caught my eye from the first chapter. It felt lighthearted and fun with unique characters and cool concepts. It’s something I wish I could have come up with myself. While it seems simple at first you find many characters have complex personalities relating to traumatic childhoods and character development which is worth all the waiting for. Amy was a character I myself could relate to a lot and it was heartwarming to see how many people were supporting her without her even realizing it. The pacing is good and the story has one of the most loveable casts I have read.
Reading the afterwords made me appreciate the story even more. They spoke about how yandere characters often have sad endings and so she wanted to write a story about a yandere who finds happiness. It’s also noticeable that while Bibi is considered a yandere, she’s not a yandere for Amy. Her yearning for Peter turns out to be blind yearning as the story progresses she finds herself falling deeper and deeper in love with Amy. Their love heals them and helps them overcome their trauma and flaws. One chapter in particular stands out: when Bibi abandons Amy in exchange for a date with Peter and finds herself acting up again. She’s pushing kids and causing problems and when she’s called to the office she realizes it’s because of Amy’s absence. They bring out the best in each other constantly and balance each other out perfectly.
Reading the story it seemed a lot like Amy had some sort of avoidant attachment problem where she ran away whenever a problem arises or she encounters some sort of emotion she can’t deal with. This balances out perfectly with Bibi who takes things head on. Bibi is constantly forcing Amy to come out of her shell and face her problems which helps Amy progress so much throughout the story.
Also, while this detail may seem insignificant to some, I’m so happy this story is a girls love. I feel that if the story was between a boy and a girl it wouldn’t feel the same as Bibi goes through the feelings of seeing Amy as her first friend first. It may seem really shallow to say and I feel shallow saying it but this story was meant to be between two girls and it would not have been the same otherwise.
In conclusion, ‘I Love Amy’ is the one of the cutest stories I’ve read. I 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a good gl or just a wholesome romance in general. I’d say it’s friendly for all age groups and worth every single minute reading. Please give it a try! ^^
