DESCRIPTION

Fubuki Sakuragasaki is a powerful gamer who, with the power of her Passion Panties, climbs up the ranks of the BAG (Best of Arcade Gamer) tournament to become the greatest Arcade Gamer in the world. However, the evil Gulasic Group is out to conquer the world through said tournament, and their gaming skills will prove to be a challenge. Fubuki must team up with the legendary Mr. Mystery to combat the four Gods of Gaming and make the world of arcade gaming safe for all.

This anime gives me a headache. This is garbage gag anime. Don't bother.
Let's talk about bad anime.

Now, you have lots of ways anime can be enjoyed. You have the legitimately good anime, like Cowboy Bebop or Evangelion, or JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012), and you have bad anime, like Inferno Cop, Ghost Stories, or [insert recent title here].

Now, just because anime is "bad," doesn't mean it can't be entertaining. When I say Inferno Cop is bad, I don't mean it as a bad watch. Objectively, by seeing the lack of animation or a cohesive story, it's bad. But that's the point. Shows like Xavier Renegade Angel look like crap, but can be incredibly funny. Inferno Cop is incredibly funny and even if it lacks an animation budget, that was the entire point of the series. Stuff like Axe Cop, notoriously written by an 8-year old, is very poor in it's storytelling ability, but it is still very entertaining. You also probably know about stuff like Ghost Stories, which was an average anime saved in the dub where they just didn't care and the dubwork was so bad, it's good. I could keep going on, bringing up stuff like The Room, but the point of the matter is, "bad" doesn't mean "completely unwatchable." A lot of stuff now is ironically made; its 90% of what's on Adult Swim.

This anime is actually awful. There was a trope going around about how anime is all just pervert stuff, high school girls constantly flashing their panties for no reason and everyone is apparently just a pervert. Also, power of some oddly specific thing (usually friendship). Unlike stuff like BoBoBo, this doesn't feel like it's done in terms of being funny, it comes off as just... creepy. It comes off as a genuine attempt at a joke, and has no sort of ironic factor whatsoever. It's played completely seriously.

I only bring this up because apparently this was supposed to be a gag anime. You want a good gag anime? Inferno Cop. Ghost Stories, probably. Pop Team Epic. This is everything wrong with anime, and unfortunately it's played with no irony whatsoever.

God, this reminds me of Neptunia, another garbage series that is incredibly shallow and is nothing deeper than girls that are video game consoles. They don't really do anything special with the concept and every game in that series plays the exact same, or is a regurgitation of a regurgitation of a bowel evacuation of the original game that inspired it. It legitimately gives me a headache and makes me feel like I wasted my time. I'll give Arcade Gamer Fubuki one thing: it ends pretty quickly. Although, it's so bad, it makes me feel like its 3 times as long as it really is.

I don't think it helps the term "gamer" has gone from a term of slight pride, to a term of ironic cringe, to a term that is just cringe. This anime has aged horribly.

The dub is full of 4Kids voice actors, even though 4Kids didn't dub this under their license, from what I can tell. So maybe if you're a Sonic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, or Pokemon fan, you might find some enjoyment out of that. The evil organization logo looks exactly like the Wu Tang Clan's symbol, too, but that might not hit with everyone who watches this and is most certainly unintentional.

I like poorly produced anime, because it can end up being funny. Goldenboy's dub was done off the cuff and they had some guy around the office dub it, from what I remember, and it's one of my favorite anime because of that. Perhaps at the time, this was at least... acceptable, but now it just comes off as hard to watch and completely lacking in substance. I like old stuff and dated can have a really appealing charm, but the stuff in this anime has made it rather hard to watch, especially considering how the medium has evolved over the last 20 years... or hasn't, depending on the viewer.
