10/100Bland, doesn't know how to use it's short time to its advantage, and a genuine waste of time.Continue on AniListI guess I'm making reviewing extremely unknown anime/manga is my thing now.
If I could go back in time, I would not watch these episodes. I wouldn't say this for any other anime- but nothing was gained out of the 20ish minutes I watched this show, and i certainly don't think any of it will stick with me. No, i remembered NONE of the names.
To save you the precious minutes you MAY spend watching this, I'll run over what the anime attempts to do. The main character is a NEET, who runs a popular blog for idols. She boosts underrated idols on this blog in order to make them a bit more popular. There are 4-5[?] Main idols/idol groups that are mentioned, the main one consisting of 3 girls with colorful hair, the other a single girl with dark blue hair, the other a very popular idol, and last but not least, some random brunettes that pop out of nowhere in the last few episodes.
The colorful trio is led by a girl who has red hair who was bound to inherit a strawberry farm and is jealous of her brother. Due to both of these things, she turned into a delinquent in her school. The girl with the blue hair in the group was in the same class as her, and randomly said "Hey, let's be idols together!!" to which she agreed. When meeting up with their manager, they are introduced to the yellow hair girl, who apparently has been performing for a while but now wants to be an idol. Together they form a group, NEET girl boosts it, the red-haired girl wants to go 'major', the yellow-haired girl does not [changes her mind later tho??], and the conflict between them ends, all they need to do is be talented and pull in more people. That's their story. That's it. Oh, and there's this otaku fanatic guy who just likes just about every idol group, we'll come back to him in the next paragraphs.
This group is the main focus right next to two other idols i mentioned, the very popular one and the dark blue-haired one.
Very popular idol wasn't ALWAYS popular [SHOCKING!] and was very underrated back in the day. Otaku dude thought he had a chance with her BECAUSE she was so underground and he was a huge fan. Then the NEET girl talked about her and she blew up in popularity, making him feel as if he was stolen away from her [ok, interesting and realistic I guess, but side note: just know that this can't happen anyways, managers would rather die than have their idols date.]. He hates the blog?? I guess?? And now retires being a huge big fan of the popular girl who- may I add- HAS THE BEST OUTFIT IN THE SERIES. Take a moment to appreciate it! =]
Anyways! Now he focuses on the dark-blue-haired girl! I think to get over the other idol? Or maybe to rival the blog pushing the colorful idols into stardom? Wasn't paying enough attention tbh. Despite being very short, I still felt like these things were 15 minutes long. Anyways, suddenly he is like yes. YOU. Dark blue girl. YOU will be who I make popular by handing out your CDS to everyone ever and such to rival the group the NEET is trying to boost. This miserably fails by the way and she doesn't even want to be major at this point in time, but in the end, she does and it's a big reveal woo yeah!!! The idol herself has a rocky relationship with her mother and has a really garbage human being as a manager, which sucks for her. Anyways that's the show.
The show centers around 2 random losers doing the job that the managers should be doing. Kinda unrealistic but whatever. The main thing I noticed is they would try to get really emotional in one of their 4 minute long episodes [one minute dedicated to the intro, which I'm about to get to], which. Doesn't work. I reference back to the part in the colorful idol group where the red girl wants to go major and the yellow girl cries over which is SUPPOSED to be like really moving or something but she cries really hard out of nowhere on screen for 3 seconds, and the red girl just soaks in a bath thinking about it for a very hilarious stretch of time. Very. Erm. Not emotional. The dark-blue-haired girl has an awful manager and strained relationship with her mother, which they never really focus on for the full effect/weight of it so I wonder what the point of it really is. The mommy issues could not exist and nothing would change. The manager just seems like a random antag that exists for like 30 seconds. Unsure if the Otaku getting out of touch with his waifu the popular idol is supposed to be emotional but it sure seems like it- though i'm giving it a pass since it SEEMS like a joke.
Anyways. The animation is eh, the performances they do with 3d models which is very jarring and strange, i can't fault them for the quality- but it IS a short series. The songs SOUND good to me, and I think they are fine. The funniest thing about them is that they try to incorporate a concert feel with like 7 people weakly clapping which always managed to get a giggle out of me.
The intro takes up 1/3 of the episode sometimes, and it is either the dark-blue-haired girls performance or the colorful idol's performance. It doesn't have an actual intro, they are just clips from the show- which feels a bit jarring. the outro seemed like it was going to be a cute little short thing where they teach you otaku slang, but they stopped doing that really fast and just quit having an outro.
Series SUCKS and I give it a 10 because I actually learned new lingo with otaku culture that I didn't know before + the outfit design is cute.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone, wouldn't watch it again, and honestly would have instantly forgotten about this if I didn't write this review. I WAS going to submit the characters for this but I really don't feel like it, whoever submits them gets a cookie from me. Not kidding, message me if you seriously sub the characters please XD!
