100/100"Words have a soul called Kotodama"Continue on AniListWhen you utter a wish, it will come true. That is the power of "Kotodama" and Nagisa can see them.
Nagisa is a high-school girl who plays lacrosse and wishes nothing more than to see her old childhood friends make up. One day, she finds a small and empty cafe and decides to enter. It's filled with music and even a small radio station so Nagisa decides to try the radio for fun. It's all fun and games and she doesn't expect anyone to listen to it until she receives an e-mail from the supposed owner of the place, telling her a couple things about breaking into people's places and using stuff without any permission. Once the initial "disagreement" is set aside, Nagisa and Shion decide to do the radio stuff together and after a while they're 6 members of this small radio station.
While I'd love to write a 2000 word essay on how much I loved every frame and sound that had anything to do with Otoha, my beloved, I think that the most simple thing I can say about this movie is that it's a very humane story about words and their power. What I mean by "humane" is that the characters we meet are neither extremely complicated, nor are they just some simple 4-koma comedy girls. They all have the things they like to talk about, they all have something that makes you remember them, they all have their own basic problems that you either had yourself or can at least understand why they have their difficulties.
Another thing I enjoyed a lot was how comfortable it looked. I just find the art style very chill to look at, the wide smiles from Nagisa hit right in my soft heart and Otoha's floofy hair looked very plushy as well. I think they really managed to give you the summer vacation vibes and to make me enjoy the movie. It wasn't some action-packed story but it managed to really speak to how careful you should be with your words and how important it is to not say something you might regret in the future.
I think this movie is really something for everyone, regardless of what kind of shows or movies you prefer, because it's just simple enough for you not to really need to think but it also doesn't get boring at any point and its message is clear and important enough for you (or rather for me) to end this movie with a smile on my face and to say "Wow, this was really nice to watch". There are other movies that give you a similar message (like "Anthem of the heart" for example) but this one felt very special to me because it brought the radio element into the whole thing.
That's all I got to say about this movie, it's not much but I don't wanna spoil too many things either, so I hope you consider watching it and that you'll enjoy it. Thankas!
