DESCRIPTION
Nothing interesting is happening in Makoto Ozaki’s first year of high school. His life is a series of quiet humiliations: low-grade bullies, unreliable friends, and the constant frustration of his adolescent lust. But one night, a pale, thin girl knocks him to the ground in an alley and offers him a choice. Now everything is different. Daylight is searingly bright. Food tastes awful. And worse than anything is the terrible, consuming thirst. The tiny shames of his old life have been replaced by two towering horrors: the truth of what will slake his awful craving and high school itself.

Bem... Vampiros...

83/100Manga Happiness is great for those of you who like vampire mythology, or those of you who like dark and scary stories!Continue on AniList#My story about how I found the manga Happiness: I was looking at manga in a bookstore and found a manga called "Happiness - Shuzo Oshimi". When I went home, I tried to read the manga, and when I had read it, it turned out...
#Plot Story, Happiness: As told by ____Makoto, Okazaki____ is a middle school student with an ordinary life, because of this he is always forced to be ordered around like an orderly from his classmates. And all that changed drastically when at night Makoto Okazaki, who was riding a bicycle, was attacked by a vampire named ____Nora____. He sucked Makoto's blood on his neck and asked "Do you want to become a vampire like me, or die?" The next day, Makoto wakes up in the hospital. Everyone around him believes Makoto is just a victim of the strange attacks at night he usually gets. However, there was something strange that after that night Makoto became unable to see sunlight, apart from that Makoto felt very thirsty but it wasn't ordinary water that he wanted, but blood. The ironic, Makoto friends with ____Ono, Yuki____ who always bosses him around in his class, and Yuki's girlfriend is ____Nao, Shiraishi____. Simultaneously, Makoto begins to develop a friendship with the beautiful girl ____Yukiko, Gosho____ from another class. From that, Makoto's life slowly began to change. "Maybe" if you look at the main story, this isn't very interesting. But Shuzo Oshimi combines all the contents of the story with losing someone, affecting love, heresy, and others. Oshimi, combines it all into one story which is quite interesting and exciting, but I don't like the storyline which is sometimes messy, I don't know where the plot is going and I think when Oshimi writes his characters he is inconsistent, some of the characters are written well like Yukiko Gosho and Makoto Okazaki and what was less satisfying for me was the writing of the characters ____Masami Sakurane____, Yuki Ono, and Nao Shiraishi. And maybe there are some readers of this Happiness manga who feel the pace is quite slow.
#Visuals, Happiness: The visuals in Happiness really help make this comic a comic that looks dark, the body horror is very scary, and the horror of the story is also great. You can see the use of thick lines and shadows and also the use of panels ____Thick lines and shadows____: Shuzo Oshimi in his drawings uses lots of thick lines to add a tense atmosphere and intense tension. I also think that Oshimi has a unique and good drawing style. Honestly, I really like the panel drawings of this manga and I also really like the character drawn by Oshimi, namely Yukiko Gosho! ____Use of Panels____: Oshimi uses panels in an effective way to create something scary in each panel. He often uses close-up panels to focus on the emotions of each character, and most recently Oshimi uses wide panels to show the setting of the story! Overall, the visuals of the Happiness manga are very good at creating a dark, horror and atmospheric that really suits the story. With visuals like that I think it makes for an immersive reading experience
#Conclusion: This manga is perfect for those of you who are fans of vampire-themed fiction stories! And what I can say is that Happiness is a complex and interesting manga that explores a world with vampires, and also if you like horror themes with body horror or something like that I recommend you to read this Happiness manga!! Thank You For Reading My Review About Manga Happiness - Shuzo Happiness!

85/100Why I Love Happiness So MuchContinue on AniListHappiness by Shūzō Oshimi is an extraordinary manga that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys intense, psychological storytelling. Its ability to delve into profound themes while maintaining an air of mystery and tension sets it apart in the genre. The manga masterfully combines raw emotion with supernatural intrigue, creating a story that is both thrilling and deeply moving.
I’ve reread Happiness multiple times, and I know I’ll continue to revisit it in the future. Each reading offers new insights, allowing me to appreciate its layers even more as I grow older. At its core, the story is about change—both the pain and growth that come with it—and the struggle to adapt to a new reality. Beneath that, there’s an understated exploration of love, not just romantic but also the kind that transforms and challenges one’s sense of self. It’s a tale that asks the reader to confront their own fears and insecurities about change while finding strength in vulnerability.
One of the unique aspects of my experience with the manga is how I engage with its characters. Strangely, I often forget the protagonist’s name because my attention is so strongly drawn to Nora. Nora’s complexity and mysterious presence pull me in, and it mirrors how the protagonist himself is captivated by her. This dynamic strengthens my connection to the main character, as his fascination with Nora becomes my own. Their interactions are fraught with tension and unspoken emotion, creating moments that linger long after the page is turned.
The plot itself is masterfully crafted, blending supernatural and mythological elements with deeply human struggles. Watching the main character grapple with leaving behind his past while attempting to embrace an unfamiliar and often unsettling new life is both heartbreaking and inspiring. The emotional toll he endures is palpable, and it’s portrayed with such depth that it feels utterly real. The story is rich with symbolism, inviting readers to explore its deeper meanings while immersing themselves in its hauntingly beautiful world.
What makes Happiness even more remarkable is how Shūzō Oshimi consistently delivers meaningful endings in his works. Many of his mangas leave readers with something to think about long after they’ve finished, and Happiness is no exception. However, it stands apart from his other creations because of its mythological and supernatural backdrop, which adds a unique flavor to the narrative while still addressing universal themes. This blend of the extraordinary and the deeply personal gives the manga a lasting impact that resonates on multiple levels.
Overall, Happiness is a manga I hold in high regard. It’s a story that evolves with the reader, offering new lessons and perspectives with each revisit. Whether it’s the emotional complexity of the characters, the rich and layered plot, or the unique setting, it’s a work that continues to resonate deeply with me. Every time I read it, I find myself learning something new, and I value it even more as I grow older. The layers of meaning and emotional resonance ensure that it remains a favorite, capable of surprising and moving me with every read.
sorry for the Happiness glaze :3
