80/100Two bros chilling in the hot tub five feet apart cause they're straight.Continue on AniListThis is going to have an anime next season (January 2030) but if you don't care about that or actually prefer to watch a show while knowing what's going to happen then it's a light read, completed, mainly romance with comedy and friends being friends and all the fun things that happen in Japanese high school settings.
The plot is simply about a girl with her male childhood friend, they are in a sense "bros" since he doesn't see her nor treat her as a female. So, she ends up liking him and trying to make it clear that she's a feminine/desirable girl in order to make him fall in love. Because sports and being natural (As in not being interested in makeup and fashion, and other supposedly girly activities) is what she's and that is kinda making her insecure, it might sound cliché but even with the unoriginal premise, it is unique in its own way and I can assure you any rom-com enjoyer would love this.
Plus the manga is in the format of four panels on each page so it's easier to read in bites, don't get overwhelmed by the number of chapters (900+) because each page is actually counted as a chapter of its own so that's the reason (The manga had an unusual update schedule: instead of a weekly or monthly serialization, it updated one page every day on the web, like a webcomic) they're not really a lot and being four panels make it easier to read.
The art is neat, and it's not that detailed just what you would expect from a rom-com usually, it's pretty and all the characters look good, the covers are cool they have a white background and a couple of characters have something going on that is related to the volume's content. And I'd advise supporting the author by buying they're merely 8 volumes and have bonus chapters.
The heroine's progress is admirable, she starts being naïve and not confident in herself romantically as in trying to do things that aren't in line with her strong points, but with time and the help of her great friends she becomes better at knowing herself, and utilizing her charisma. That friend of hers (the crush in question) realizes how much she means to him as a friend and even more over time. Love their relationship progress, before they became a couple they were childhood best friends, rivals, and each other's role mode.
Both of them have their own circle of friends, the heroine Tomo-chan (ironically Tomo is short for Tomodachi which means friends in Japanese} has this cool standoffish friend that is manipulative, and the frenemy of the protagonist Jun, since she too is their childhood friend, her superpower is sending death glare to anyone that isn't Tomo-chan, by the time they will get another blonde friend that is aloof and rich, she's cute but don't let her looks trick you she is brutally honest and never hesitates to speak of what's in her mind. Those three are Tomo's group, Jun's friends are mainly his classmates that keep on speaking about girls and dating, regular boys but the catch in this manga is that it is clear of fanservice which is honestly great.
Was this manga enjoyable? Yes, friendship here is as important as romantic ones, the humor sense is immaculate. It's easy to read daily or to binge it, and the girls were written in a good way they are respected and have their own characters, and later maybe romance not only for Tomo-chan. Tomo and Jun's families are neighbours so you get to see family shenanigans with even their other friends' parents.
__ TL;DR__ Overall, it's a good short rom-com manga for you to read in breaks. And to enjoy seeing the growth and routine of the characters since it's a slice of life too. Even if romance is not your cup of tea I personally I'm an avid romance hater and liked this so honestly try to take a look at it sometimes. Maybe you'll start rooting for Tomo to get that ~~pokemon~~ heart of Jun!
