85/100Very nostalgic, and still feels new all these years later.Continue on AniListI'm Asian, and Doraemon has been my childhood for around like 10 years now, and although I MOSTLY watched the Vietnamese dub (since that's what I'm familiar with when watching), I still consider it to be a great show.
I think every demographic/age group can watch this and be entertained, NOT just kids, and this is mainly because of how catchy, easy it is to binge, and easy to understand when compared to other long-running shows.
I would like to start with the story first since that's the element that's mostly changed the longer you watch it:
Sometimes, it's the same formula: Nobita has a problem, he talks to Doraemon about it, Doraemon has a gadget from the 22nd century, Nobita's friends come along, and sometimes does an action to him (mostly negative, but sometimes positive), Nobita goes back to his house, gets screamed at by Tamako (his mother) for NOT doing any homework.
IT can also branch out into something else entirely, with a MASSIVE variety of ways in branching out, this can range from just 1 episode, to entire mini-arcs at times.
In one example, a robotic vampiric outbreak has been happening in Doraemon's world, and one of his friends, Dorami, has been infected by the virus, it's now his and his human friends' (Nobita, Shizuka, Suneo, and Jaian) mission to save her.It is honestly the best thing about this show, despite running FOR OVER 18 YEARS, the show still finds a way to intrigue the viewer, because of it's very long-running message, "Sometimes technology isn't the solution to everything"
The characters are still charming, charismatically wholesome and always entertaining:
Let's start with the main 5: Every character has a distinct flaw that is greatly enhanced by the sound design and even the voice acting.
Doraemon: The star of the show, and the titular character. He's still does the same things as the original 1970s show, still has the same 4D pocket that he used to, and overall, still stays well as a companion for Nobita
Nobita Nobi: still very understandably stupid, that does become a very important part for his character as a whole, he's somewhat perverted, but that doesn't ruin his character much
Shizuka Minamoto: while SIGNIFICANTLY smarter than Nobita, still has flaws, and this is greatly realized by her HORRIBLE violin playing
Suneo and Jaian: Both are kinda the same, because they bully Nobita from time to time, and making his life KINDA a living hell sometimes, still, this isn't very annoying, as they also help Nobita as well.
The rest of the characters are also charming as well, especially Tamako.
The animation is also great as well:
Every single scene is simplistic, or well-thought-out, and combined with some of the sounds, the animation is quite snappy, and colourful to look at.
Overall, It's a very good, long-running show that holds near and dear to my heart every second, no matter if you're a kid, or an adult, you will still find enjoyment watching it.
