70/100A hefty balance of good short books and boring long books.Continue on AniListFirst off, I need to clarify that it HAS been a FEW YEARS since I have read these books, so my apologies about if I had missed a detail or two here and there in my review of these books. Second, I ONLY read them JUST to get to the SIXTH AND LAST “Akatsuki” book, as THAT WAS the one that had caught my interest from the VERY BEGINNING. With that said and out of the way:
The first book: Kakashi’s Story – “Lightning in the frozen sky” was an ACTUALLY very fun read for a first book. Taking place sometime before has been announced for the next seat of Hokage, Kakashi decides to go on a dangerous rescue mission for the passengers on an Air-Flight heist. This happens by the hands of a man who’s heart is frozen in tragedy, and Kakashi has use everything in his power to stop the heist before anyone gets hurt! Honestly, though it IS a good read for a “First Book” in the series, the REAL “Entertainment” comes once Gai enters the story, trying to out-do Kakashi as always, but still hindered by his injuries at the end of “Shippuden”, AS WELL AS AIR-SICKNESS, Gai’s fumbling around throughout the story REALLY hit me extra hard with the laughs. There is ALSO, the stakes of the villain using his own Ninjutsu-Skills to FREEZE AND KILL anyone who gets in his way, including the hostage that Kakashi meets with and talks to throughout the story while he is doing his Espionage. Otherwise, Kakashi was interesting as always with his personal set of Ninjutsu-Skills a-plenty in order to efficiently get the job done with the least amount of casualties.
Second book: Shikamaru’s story – “A cloud drifting in the Silent Dark” was unfortunately one of the only TWO books that I didn’t read.
Third book: Sakura’s story – “Love Riding on the Spring Breeze” was honestly the LONGEST AND MOST BORING of the Series’s books that I had read. Having to deal with healing the injuries of adults from the “Fourth Great Ninja War” and childrens’ trauma from it. Sakura gets word that SASUKE IS NOW A TERRORIST AND ATTACKING INNOCENTS IN KONOHA! So Sakura has to think with both her mind AND heart to solve who may actually TRULY be behind these attacks and bring them to Justice to clear Sasuke’s name! I honestly found this to be a REALLY POINTLESS story, as if you had read or seen the last of “Shippuden”, you’d know that Sasuke had turned-over- a-new-leaf. And thus would NEVER attack innocents in his own Vilagle to this point in the story.
Fourth book: Konoha’s story – “A Perfect day for a Wedding” was unfortunately the other of the only TWO books that I didn’t read.
Fifth book: Gaara’s story – “A Sandstorm Mirage” was the fifth and (If I remember correctly) the SHORTEST book that I had read of the series. As Gaara is getting ready to ttend a wedding, he is informed by his sibling Guardians about an assassin that has been sent out to kill him. Once at the Ceremony, once he meets his Significant other/Partner, he finds out that the woman that he was supposed to trust AND the other woman who was sent to kill him, MAY both have ulterior motives for the Kazekage than that of which anyone’s Intel was led to believe for Gaara’s well-being. Filled with romantic twists for whichever woman that Gaara has to choose between, It is an interesting book for the feelings train.
And the Sixth/Final book: Akatsuki’s story – “Evil flowers in Full Bloom” was a MISLEADING book at FIRST. Taking place from Sasuke’s perspective as he meets two boys, and one of the BOYS then reminds Sasuke about the Akatsuki. One story is about Itachi and Kisame defending themselves in a fight against a Water-Jutsu weilder while Itachi keeps comparing their enemy to his own brother: Sasuke. The next story was MY PERSONAL FAVORITE as it tells a story about Hidan and Kakuzu meetng a young boy from a Ghost-Village and Kakuzu exploring and investing WHILE HIDAN TELLS THE BOY ABOUT HIS PERSONAL RELIGIOUS “CULT OF JOSHIN”! The third story is one about Sasori and Diedarah as after a mission, Deidarah wants to get new Clay-Supplies. So they they go to a Village made and selling Clay as Deidarah meets a woman who tells him a story about how thought all her Clay-Art was imperfect, so she always has to destroy it. The fourth story is just about Konan going on a mission with Nagato from the orders of Madara (Actually Obito and Zetsu.). After all of the stories end, Sasuke’s perspective is brought back as he gives one last goodbye to the boy he was talking to.
Perhaps one of these days I’ll go back and read the last two books I missed.
