100/100One of the best manga I have read, sometimes even the most basic of things can be the best.Continue on AniListOne of the best, and most hilarious comedies, I am going to be getting the physical manga volumes for it soon. This was one of the first manga that I read, and of all of them that I have, I can say it is definitely my favorite. All of the characters are likeable, and relatable, the humor reminds me of my own humor, things that I'd funny, talking about stupid things with my friends. Really like the weird humor and different situations, sometimes even the most basic of things can be the best. Personally I believe this manga is less focused around the "harem" aspect, I can definitely see it, but the one who mainly has feelings for Daisuke is Chiaki, Reiko is probably the second one coming up, Suzu and Oohara have minor feelings for Daisuke, and Tanaka mostly messes around with him. I personally don't believe the manga will really develop romantically that much, maybe there will be a confession on the final chapter, when that comes, but that's not the intent of the manga, the "romance" and "harem" aspect of the manga is mainly the misunderstandings, and potential outcomes in the manga. While the manga does have ecchi content, it's not a serious main focus of the manga, the author knows what he's doing when he puts it in the manga, it's to entice readers, but the ecchi content is also usually used to create humor, like say Oohara's hypnosis had an unexpected effect, and an ecchi scene occurs, it's pure comedy, it's genius. Understanding that the author of the manga wrote squid girl, which got two anime seasons, would help you understand the route this manga will take, i.e. slice of life comedy, it's obvious that he is experimenting with a male lead surrounded by mainly female characters, as squid girl was a female protagonist with mainly female characters, like K-on! I believe the manga has a good chance to get an anime adaption, based on the fact that the author previously had a manga adaption, and the likeability of the manga. One of the main things that opened my eyes, reading this manga, to the great glory of the story was the warm, less serious nature of the manga, it felt very inviting to read it, and to unwind and lose myself in the comedy of the story. Apart from the main cast, there are several recurring characters, like the president of Oohara's fanclub, the different club presidents, the track girl, and the captain of the girl's wrestling team to name a few; even in these minor characters, there is still a sense of individuality, and comedy from the characters. The whole manga feels normal but still weird, and that I feel is the main selling point of the manga.
Sorry for making this seem like an English essay, realized after typing this, it's too blocky, but I'll still include it, with a condensed, more easy to read and maybe comedic review
To start off the manga, our main character, Goryou Daisuke, a freshman at the unnamed high school gets hypnotized into joining the school's mystery research club, which he meets three girls:
Chiaki Kanda, who deals with mainly stage magic, and her freakish shows of strength
Oohara Kotone, who was the one who hypnotized Daisuke in the first place, who, of course, deals with hypnosis magic
Suzu Ninomiya, who I personally believe looks the most like squid girl, deals with curses and the occult and the cursed doll MatsukoAlong the way Daisuke meets many other interesting people, during his never ending freshman year, with extreme amounts of comedy and absurdity. While the manga mainly deals with slice of life comedy, there is also ecchi and a "harem" aspect, but the harem aspect is mainly speculation, as relating to the fact that the author had previously wrote a popular slice of life comedy, it's obvious that there won't be much real displays of love and romance, the one who mainly has feelings for Daisuke is Chaiki, but even this could be seen as a comedic parody of the school romance genre.
Now before I write anymore, I'll share some of my favorite screenshots from the manga:

Beyond what I've already said, it's up to you to decide if you want to read it, and how much you will like it when you read it.
