DESCRIPTION
At Kaimei High School, the Living Assistance Club (aka the Sket Brigade) was organized to help students with problems big or small. Most of the time, though, they hang out in their club room, bored, with only a few trivial problems floating in every once in a while. In spite of this, they still throw all their energy into solving these worries.

100/100The anime i fell in love withContinue on AniListA work that I wanted to see to kill time and ended up regaining my love for audiovisual media and what they have to offer. ~~~~~~__Synopsis:__ Sket Dance tells the adventures of Kaimei Academy's "Sket-Dan", a club that is dedicated to solving any problems raised by the student council for the overall improvement of students' lives. Based on the plot of the series, we can expect that the series will not be a great adventure with a very elaborate plot (until later), but rather an episodic work, in which each chapter will have a different protagonist, and therefore, a story apart from that of our main characters The series takes place in an ordinary world (mostly), an educational Institute, using parody and gag (Humor transmitted through images and not words) as main resources. On a great variety of occasions we will find scenes, and even complete chapters of parodies of other well-known and popular cult series, but it is not limited only to the field of animation, Sket dance also parodies different recognized Actors, both in Japan and in the rest of the world, including celebrities. like, for example, Michael Jackson. There are times when the series even makes fun of itself, breaking the fourth wall on many occasions, a resource that the author, Shinohara Kenta, uses in a magnificent and very recurring way in most of his episodes, from the characters talking about their voice actors, to discussing the terms of conditions when publishing explicit or inappropriate content in the industry. __Characters:__ What I love the most and what made me fall in love with this work is the individuality that each character possesses, and they are not few. Each and every one of them is unique in its own way, and it's impossible not to fall in love with the cast of the series. I will talk more about the 3 main characters of the play. Fujisaki Yuusuke (Bossun): It could be said that of the three, he is the "Hero" of this story, but that is not entirely correct, since the stereotype of the protagonist that is usually used is quite the opposite, he is a character character immature, lazy and childish, in most of his time, he can be seen playing with toys as if he were a child, he usually wanders in the club room or playing jokes with his acquaintances, he gets easily depressed and self-conscious when he is insulted or Left aside. Regardless of these flaws, Bossun is a very analytical person when it comes to dealing with problems. What I like about this specific character is how much one can empathize with him, because he is an ordinary person without many talents, extremely humble and enthusiastic, despite the fact that not everything goes as he would like, he remains firm and keep going. He follows his ideology of helping everyone who has the courage to seek his help, going to any extreme if the situation warrants it.Hime Onizuka (Himeko): An ex-delinquent who used to fight with anyone who came across her, she is the one who does the "dirty work" when the situation calls for violence, and she is the one who usually finishes off the series' jokes. Although she appears to be tomboyish and violent, she has a taste for cute and cuddly things. He shows unwavering loyalty to the leader of the group and therefore follows him everywhere. What I like most about her is her constant attempt to be a better person, to forget that delinquent past that haunts her throughout the play. Usui Kazuyoshi (Switch): He is the mind and the secretary of the group, due to the events that took place in his life, switch chooses not to speak with his mouth, he does so through a voice synthesizer through his computer. He is an otaku who apparently enjoys making fun of others, not much can be said from his expressions, since he doesn't have one. Later in the work, his story is delved into. What I love most about Switch is the fact that the conclusion of the play is about his self-improvement, and everything that he stands for, he's probably the most developed character in the play. Of the rest of the secondary characters, I could spend all day writing about them and what they represent, but there is no time for it. As I said before, each character is unique, from a Samurai in the middle of the 21st century to a manga artist who constantly breaks the fourth wall. __The message of the work and all that it means "Help the rest"__ This story taught me that no one can live by themselves, each and every one of us at some point in our history will need the support of someone else, and this work speaks of how important it is to be willing to offer our help to those who need it. , teaches us to look around us and reflect on the lives of others and understand that we are all different and have various problems, teaches us not to be afraid to ask for help, and above all to value the present, leave the past behind and keep going. “What does helping others mean to you?” Bossun answers this question as follows: “Being someone who understands others. Not to change people so that they can overcome their problems, but to make people recognize where they stand and appreciate themselves as they are now, by giving them a push in the back." __My conclusion__ Sket dance is definitely my favorite show, it has taught me a lot about how to be a better person and how to cope with my problems with the best of smiles, it is a series with which you will laugh out loud, but you will also learn, and you're going to cry, it's a long journey, but it's totally worth your time and patience. I fell in love with this anime/manga, and I'm sure it will happen to more than one. So, should you watch Sket dance? Give it a try, and I swear you won't regret it. Note: I am Spanish speaking, so I apologize if I have written something wrong.Krynn
99/100The best comedy anime of all time, tbh.Continue on AniListNo Sket Dance reviews? Hold my Pelolin.
(No Spoilers)
Sket Dance is, in short, peak comedy.
This show was made by one of the students of one of the creators of Gintama (there are crossovers). There aren't many flaws I can think of so I'll list them out here:
-
Slow warm-up. The beginning episodes are more buildup, whereas the funniest parts are in the middle and end ones.
-
Too short. 77 episodes doesn't feel like enough.
Now, to go on the the good things in the show:
Overview
There's action. There's character development. There's romance, depth, and.. surprises. But by far the best thing in this show is just the comedy. I haven't seen anything so hilarious yet. There is also a maid costume, given to males and females alike. There's lots of fourth-wall breaking, deadpan humor, irony, romantic comedy, parody, etc, all kinds. It's ridiculous and well-crafted comedy.
A few arcs also stand out to me as some of the best comedy anime arcs of all time (Genesis Tournament Arc, Saaya's romance, etc).
And as the second best aspect of the show: aside from the comedy, I don't know if I've seen a show in my life as wholesome as this. The bonds created; the friendships; the romances; the characters and their dreams; all of it leaves you with a feeling of Sakura blossoms falling around you. This is probably the biggest difference between this show's and Gintama's humor.
Again (in terms of wholesome arcs this time) this show gives some of the best in anime (Field Trip Arc, etc).
It is also worth mention that this show isn't exclusively comedy, though. When it wants to have something, like action, it does those kinds of scenes very well. It even has a short, sad arc that made me cry for a minute (I don't even cry at anime). But aside from that mini arc, it never gets too serious to the point of pausing the comedic aspect.
Characters
We have our main trio, Bossun, Himeko, and Switch. Bossun is the "main character" of the show, but he never gets quite as much screen time as he'd like. Himeko is absolutely adorable: a 'demon princess' with a soft side for anything 'cute'. And Switch is a silly little 'cool, smart guy' with a mysterious past, and the tech expert.
And then there are dozens and dozens more characters, who are all equally well-written. We have:
-
the Student Council, a group to rival the Sket Dan (the main trio's group)
-
Shinzou, a Samurai in the wrong era
-
Yuuki, a ghost-obsessed girl to contrast Switch's technical skills and beliefs
-
Momoka, another 'demon princess' who hasn't found her soft side yet, to contrast Himeko
-
Tsubaki, a duty-bound Student Council member to contrast our lax main character, Bossun
-
Roman, a deredere girl who knows everything that's going on as if it's a manga she writes
-
Dante, a melodramatic 'visual kei' style dude, voiced by an actual visual kei band member
-
and far too many more to list here.
Music
10/10. Besides the very catchy ost, it is worth note that the OPs and EDs actually parody the ones of some other genre, whether that's Shounen, Music, Drama, or Ecchi (don't worry tho there is almost no Ecchi in the show).
Conclusion
If you're looking for an amazing, decent length comedy anime, I highly recommend this show. I have never wanted a show to go on longer once it ended than Sket Dance.
Edit: I'm reading farther in the manga now, and I will say that the anime is a 10/10 adaption: toning down an extreme scene (body swap arc), improving the atmosphere of some scenes (window neko Tsubaki), keeping the feel of the manga jokes when translating them to anime jokes, and of course, the added music that matches the scenes perfectly.
