DESCRIPTION
A man was about to commit suicide and decides to search for a way to die in the internet, but then he found an odd site that asked a lot of questions and had a point based system that allows you to create skills and abilities for a character. He took interest in it and when he finished setting his character he was asked "You will now be transported to a world with the settings you choose, coming back is not possible, do you still accept." Then, without thinking much of it, he pressed "Yes," and he found himself in another world with the skills and abilities he choose to have...

100/100Quintessential wish fulfillment reading for people who don't think they're too good for ecchi isekai.Continue on AniListIf you've ever thought that the line between ecchi manga and hentai doujins is too strict, and not enough proper stories include the bonking regardless of how well it'd fit, or half ass it when they do, this is the thing for you.
When all new manga from the corporate production line looks the same, and every series ends up playing into the LitRPG tropes without ever fully committing, turning away those that dislike it, and not quite scratching the itch for those that genuinely enjoy it, you wouldn't need to go to the extents that this manga does. But this manga does anyway. And I'm here for it.
_complete with your obligatory "new world"-split introduction_ This manga does everything one would expect from "isekai". It doesn't have many, if any things other series wouldn't have, but what it shines in is the execution of concepts most people are already well acquainted with. Cliched is what you could describe it as, if you really wanted to be like that, but if I we're to have a say, refined is the term you're looking for. Which is rather ironic, as Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo couldn't be much further from it, in the conventional sense of the word. It's bluntly honest. The series won't bother with abstract symbolism in order to appear any deeper than it really is, and the only philosophical question it'll present the reader with is whether or not it's wrong to buy a slave when she's this goddamn cute.
The artist of the series, Hyouju Issei, had his hand in drawing books of the raunchier sort before, but this manga, from what I've seen, is without a doubt his best work so far, both lewds-wise and aside all the erotic content. This guy knows his shit. I've never seen a girl look this soft on a piece of paper, nor have I ever been this engaged by chibi characters running me through infographics explaining LitRPG mechanics in the utmost detail. While the content was enjoyable enough for me to read through in a novel format, it is absolutely amazing when illustrated by this god amongst men.
_Ever seen monsters on the first floor of a dungeon look this menacing?_ Everything is delivered perfectly. The dungeon system is one of the most intricate in the genre, and its implementation functions as a solid core to the series. The combat within the dungeon gives off an air of intimidation at the start, although later on, it becomes a past-time for the crew, and acts as a carrier for general interaction. The dynamic combat shots really bring the dungeon to life, and even when the stakes lower, it keeps things intense and interesting. But I'll admit, that if mechanics that define how the world works aren't your cup of tea, this manga simply isn't for you. They're heavily utilized. As brilliantly as it is executed here, I don't think it'll convert crowds anytime soon.
Though it might be awkward if not downright disgusting to some, it is a core part of the genre, and there isn't much you can do about that, except improve on it in damn near every way imaginable. The slave dynamic in Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo works better here than I've seen it work anywhere else, not even limited to its medium. Well, the novel did originally have 'Slave Harem' instead of just 'Harem' in its title before being serialized. Would be a shame if it didn't set as high of a bar as it did. Slaves aren't just collectible trophies the MC prances around to snatch, either to flex his protagonist muscle, or because he felt bad for them and just happened to have the exorbitant amounts of money required on hand two days into his new life in a new world. I've seen complaints about the manga taking too long to reach the 'harem part', but the weight of buying a slave, the commitment they require, and the time, care and respect each one is given, is what really differentiates the series from the others.
All the "sasuga" and "It's because it's master!" aside, the relationships are excellent. Michio, against what you'd expect, is a responsible owner, and Roxanne is not only loyal, but adjusts well to the relationship as well. The eventual shift from both sides, from murdering your way to acquire the funds to buy a slave because you're horny as all hell and want to bonk a cute beastgirl, and from showing obligatory signs of affection as you were instructed before being sold off as a slave, to trust and genuine devotion towards each other felt surprisingly sweet. The awkward stumbling into eventual success, as neither really knew what they were doing, was adorable. I wasn't expecting writing that good in a series like this of all things. While it was still honestly a bit twisted, rather than relying on Stockholm Syndrome shenanigans like most other isekai of the sort, it just feels right this time around.
There's still 3 more party members to be introduced as of writing this, and the 2nd girl has barely had any time in the spotlight yet. All of the girls only get better with time in the novel, and if the manga keeps going as it has been so far, the series is set for a damn good lineup.
It has plenty of things going for it, which would turn away potential readers. Isekai for starters, LitRPG mechanics, ecchi in excess, slavery and so on. But what it does, it does well. If none of the prior are an obstacle to your reading enjoyment, give the series a go.
The series takes things easy and takes its time. Nothing feels rushed. There's a lot to read for a manga that sells itself on the eye candy, but it strikes a great balance between show and tell. And by that I mean they'll tell you how the world works, and show you monsters getting beaten up and Roxanne's Roxannes in their full glory afterwards. It's such an enjoyable read. While I'd be lying if I said the lewds didn't make me biased, when they're drawn this fucking well, I'd say that's well deserved.
An unashamed 10 out of 10. In every aspect.
