85/100It gud, you read it nowContinue on AniListReview on Suicide Boy, a Manwha comic book series made by ParkGee
Suicide Boy is a comedy and tragic story which follows the life of a 17 year old, Lee Hoon (Hooni for short) who is what the name implies, is insanely suicidal because he has no friends, a mountain of debt, a dead mum, bullied constantly by everyone(like this one chapter he manages to do one pull up and even the fucking nerds was trying to get 2 pulls up because Hooni is like a level lower than them in the bullied chart so they cant end up on Hoonis level) a deadbeat dad who isnt even in his life anymore and is broke asf with the average discord mob room, minus the sticky body pillows. So because of those 13 reasons, its pretty self expla
Hooni (at least in the first part) constanly tries getting a one way ticket to heaven but just cant because each method he does is either too painful or it has a special side effect like when he tried killing himself by suffocating from smoke
Now your probably wondering where the comedy of this book comes from cuz laughing at this shit seems sad. Well this books comdic moments doesnt come from hoonis sad ass life, it comes from the interactions with his friends
After a couple of chapters your introduced to Soorim Harim and Jae Hoon(who looks to much like Lida from My Hero Academia to be a completely original design)
Jae Hoon is a book worm built like Terry Crews and Soorim is a blonde normal popular boy whos nice asf
These characters are usually included in each storyline in one way or another either getting Hooni out of a bad situation(like Soorim in the 2 arcs where Hooni uses the internet), hanging out (the sauna storyline and ripoff DnD storyline) or trying to help Hooni(Totally not Lida tutoring Hooni or trying to help him work out so the bullies dont see him as a target anymore) and these moments is where the comedy comes from and the more you read the series the less suicide associated thing that Hooni used to do stops like in part 1 of the manwha, he would be cutting his wrists constantly as a way to calm down like its cocaine but later on in the series, we see less of that happening.
Its either ParkGee showing that Hooni is getting better or the bastard cant be bothered it draw it anymore and i really hope that its the first one
Personally i like the manwha for it characters and Comedy with my favourite character being a artist whos whole deal is to basically use Hooni as a main character his own manwha which he achieves by pretending to be his friend, going over to his small apartment and writing down on a note pad about Hoonis personality and possible stories he could write which goes quite well. The reason why i havent mentioned him at all until now is because he doesnt show up alot. Many characters can either go arcs without showing up once like Soorim sister who was introduced in part 1 just to never appear again until midway part 2 and if your wondering why am not saying their names, its because i cant remember or be bothered to search for them
Over all i give Suicide boy a lovely 8 hoonis out of 10 hangings
I personally recommend the manwha, it gud
