  TLDR

  Miss Washer!: Her and I in Female Bath!? lives up to its name by providing a very clean hentai experience. Boasting lots of steamy massages and shower sex, this is a good vanilla hentai that is elevated to greatness due to great art, lovable characters, and half-decent romantic progression. A must-watch if you’re in the mood to jack it to some wholesome vanilla sweetness.

  I refuse to use the name Miss Washer!: Her and I in Female Bath!? so I’ll call the show Araiya-san from now on.

  PLOT - Good

  Araiya-san is a series of shorts centred around the protagonist Tsukishima, who works part-time in a bathhouse. One day, he is forced to wash peoples’ backs for the day (because hentai plot). That day also happens to be the day where the entire girls’ volleyball team from his school visits his bathhouse (because hentai plot). This starts a series of encounters between Tsukishima and a girl on the volleyball team named Aoi, who likes him. Despite the premise involving the whole volleyball team, this is not a harem hentai. Every scene only involves Tsukishima with either Aoi, the volleyball team captain Sasakura (rarely), or both (also rarely). The maximum number of people involved in one hentai scene is 3 and in general, the show is very tame. Probably the only thing that isn’t 100% vanilla is the fact that there are numerous scenes in public places such as public showers, public baths, and balconies, which caters to a slightly more exhibitionist crowd.

  

  The story itself is pretty nonexistent and the thread that ties all of the sex scenes together is the growing love between Aoi and Tsukishima. She starts out in love with him, but the relationship between the two continues to develop throughout the show until he falls for her as well. Technically, the show has an open-ended ending because nobody confesses to each other despite them having sex like five times. But this isn’t like one of those romance anime that ends on a “will they, won’t they” cliffhanger. It’s made pretty clear by the end that they both like each other and they’re pretty comfortable with each other, meaning that they almost definitely get together. I have no clue why, but that particular point was super important for me to mention. Overall, I really enjoyed this hentai’s story even though it had no overarching plot. It feels like a slice of life romance anime but with hentai scenes, which as far as I’m concerned is the best of both worlds.

  CHARACTERS - Great

  I usually watch hentai with the aim of nutting as fast as possible and then promptly forgetting about the fucked up shit I just consumed. However, the main characters in Araiya-san were good enough for me to get invested in them. I don’t want to make it seem like they were well-crafted characters with deep, hidden motivations and flaws that make them seem human. It’s just that they were likeable enough for me to actively want their relationship to develop further.

  The main character Tsukishima is kind of boring and dense. But he’s not that bad looking, although he simply looks like a better version of the standard protagonist and doesn't have a particularly unique design.

  Redheaded tsunderes that aren’t super violent are my ultimate weakness, and Aoi is redheaded, a tsundere, and not super violent. I will admit that she is a very stereotypical tsundere and that she has no depth besides “I want to fuck Protagonist-kun”. But I don’t care about that because I found her super cute and endearing. I probably liked her more than I should have, but she happened to push all the right buttons for me.

  

  The main supporting character is Sasakura, the volleyball team captain with big oppai. She’s the typical confident onee-san archetype and she tries to get the two main characters together while sometimes having sexual encounters of her own. More mature girls are also a weakness of mine and I enjoyed every scene she was in.

  ART AND ANIMATION - Good (for hentai)

  I don’t have too many complaints here. The animation and art quality are consistent, which is super rare. Usually, hentai looks like dogshit 80% of the time, but this one looks decent 80% of the time. Another thing that’s super common in hentai is corner-cutting as much as possible, especially during the non-sex scenes. However, Araiya-san doesn’t do this to the extent that others do. Of course, I don’t want to make it seem like there wasn’t any. I noticed many instances of sloppily looped animation, but what hentai doesn’t have that? At least it was possible to watch the non-sex scenes without vomiting, which can’t be said for some hentai (I’m looking at you, Queen Bee).

  The characters look better than most hentai characters do. Studio Magic Bus actually bothered shading the characters, which is to be commended. They made them look vibrant and shiny instead of going for that flat, dead colour scheme other hentai often have (I’m looking at you, Queen Bee). Their choice of colour palette and the extra effort they put in makes the characters pop and helps brings them to life.

  My one complaint about the art is that there are mosaic censored genitals. It isn’t the end of the world, but I would have preferred it if it was uncensored.

  MUSIC AND SOUND - Bad in some areas, good in others

  There is no OP, but the ED is pretty bad. The rest of the soundtrack was pretty unmemorable, which means it wasn’t great; but on the bright side it wasn’t terrible either. I don’t normally watch hentai for the music though, so not having an amazing soundtrack wasn’t a big deal for me.

  The voice acting is pretty good actually. I liked the actresses chosen for the tsundere and the big oppai team captain, and their moans were pretty hot. Some hentai go really overboard with the licking, sucking, and squelching sounds, but I didn’t notice it happening here.

  WHO SHOULD WATCH THIS

  This hentai is great, but only if you love vanilla. Even though Araiya-san has good art and animation, if you usually watch hentai that’s a little more “spicy”, you might find this one too boring. This hentai is also more focused on the characters than the story, so if you're looking for something with an actual plot you should look elsewhere.

  RECOMMENDATIONS

  Koikishi Purely Kiss is a vanilla hentai that features relationship progression, great art and animation, and fight scenes that don’t look terrible. Each of the two episodes covers a different route of the visual novel and is self contained. The only thing to note is that episode two has incest (brother/sister).

  CONCLUSION

  Araiya-san does pretty much everything right. The characters and art were way better than most of the mediocre hentai I’ve watched. The only real complaints I have are that the ED didn’t quite hit the mark and the use of mosaic censoring. But both of these issues are relatively minor and overall, I had a great time watching this.
