  An ever-evolving story that defies expectations

  I'll try to keep this review as spoiler-free as possible. Conclusion will be at the bottom.

  After going through Tower of God and Solo Leveling, I was looking for more of that good webtoon reading. Looking for similar things, I managed to find myself reading this (this is also one of the first series where I joined up pretty early). And boy, am I glad I did so. This series has had my attention for so long, and for good reason. This series is amazing in the fact that it engrossed me so fast, and still captivates me to this day (currently at chapter 109). It's an extremely fun read, and something I read as soon as it's up. What started off as a strong series managed to turn into something truly amazing. As I continued reading weekly, my score for this series slowly went up and up. It's so good that when anyone I know gets into the webtoon world, it's always the first thing I recommend. Honestly, I'm surprised that there hasn't been a review for this, so I decided I'd write one if it got even one person to read this series.

  Plot:
  The story revolves around the character Dokja Kim, who finds himself reading his favorite web novel Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse (and seemingly the only one left doing so). One day, the web novel ends, and the author thanks Dokja Kim by sending him a gift (a copy of the web novel) and letting him know that his series will become paid content at 7 PM. At 7 PM, Dokja's favorite series comes to life and becomes his new reality. He's thrust into this new reality headfirst along with his work colleague Sangah Yu with the goal of completing the scenarios that are given by the Dokkaebi that appears. These scenarios are streamed to constellations who can sponsor people with coins and gifts to help them progress through the scenarios. Later on, he finds out that not only has his reality changed, he also finds out that the main character of the web novel Yoo Joonghyuk is also there. Yoo Joonghyuk is what you would call a regressor, as in when they die they regress back to the start. Knowing this, Dokja must also keep Yoo Joonghyuk alive as if he is killed, the world could potentially restart and Dokja may not be in it. With the main goal of surviving the scenarios, Dokja continues on living in this new reality of his. Using his knowledge of the web novel, Dokja finds the best ways to go through the scenarios and manipulate them to the way he wants so he can get the ending that he wants.

  There is also a skill system in which everyone has their own skills, which can be upgraded by using coins and other means. They are also given their own special attributes. Individuals can also be given specific skills from constellations that can sponsor them. They can also use items that can benefit them such as consumables and weapons.

  Characters:
  The characters in Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint are just fantastic. They're all pretty well developed, and (so far) no annoying characters whatsoever. It's always nice to see even side characters get some great development and seem interesting. I'll talk about a few of the characters in the series briefly since I don't want to give away too much.

  Dokja Kim is the main character of this series. He's a friendly individual, but if it comes to it he can be cold as well. He uses his knowledge of the web novel to help him survive the scenarios. This knowledge is used in interesting ways and keeps the series fresh in my opinion.

  Yoo Joonghyuk is one of the main characters of this series. He was the main character of Three Ways To Survive the Apocalypse and is currently in Dokja's world. He is a cold-hearted character who is hell-bent on getting through the scenarios.

  Sangah Yu is also one of the main characters of this series. She was Dokja's work colleague. She is an empathetic character with the capability to get things done if needed.

  Art:
  This series has some insanely good art. In my opinion, it even has some of the best art in the webtoon world (from the webtoons I've read so far). Every scene just looks fantastic, and well colored (still surprised at how some series are full color and drawn so well). The art continually gets better as the series goes on (not that it was bad at first) and sometimes the scenes stun me with how awesome they look.

  Conclusion:
  Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is, in my opinion, a must-read. It's a story that's well written, has a fantastic cast of characters with great development, art that is just stunning at times, some good world building, a cool skill system, a journey that just keeps on giving, and most of all it's fun. The time invested in this series won't be wasted. It stands out in the medium as one of the greats. Whenever I think it can't get better, it makes sure to let me know that I was wrong. It's one of my personal favorites, and hopefully it'll be one of yours.

  As just your average animanga enjoyer with poor written English ability and below average communication skills, I really don't like writing reviews(it's my first time) but because Kim Dokja reminds me of how depressing it is to be a reader, I'll will doing it.

  • SYNOPSIS - For Starters, this story is of a reader who's name is Kim Dok-ja(which also means "Reader" in Korean) who is your typical contract worker who likes to read Webnovels in subway trains while returning home, but one day his favorite webnovel TWSA becomes reality and he's the only person who read till the end(that's an omniscient for ya!) but he wants to write......he wants to add few more pages to this story's epilogue but in the process of doing it he changes the story some extend (which isn't bothering him much for now)
  • STORY - Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint(ORV in short)"s plot initially starts off as a sort of reverse-isekai/dungeon crawl webtoon/novel, a genre which has grown very popular in east Asian media in the past few years. For the first few arcs, there’s a lot of worldbuilding, game mechanics, and a protagonist who gets overpowered skills as a result of his epic gamer reader skills. If you start ORV and specifically enjoy the First Sixty

    which is the First arc of ORV. However, past the first few arcs, ORV takes a hard turn into more complex themes and narratives, delving into more meta elements and grappling with so many plot threads that it would honestly make this story the most interesting one you have ever read. Suffice to say, while the first few arcs are fun and in-line with other works of this genre, it becomes more of a interrogation of its own genre and the act of creating media in general as it goes on. If deconstructing tropes, metanarratives up to your nose, and 4D chess-style time and multiverse shenanigans are your thing, ORV is the first thing you should read!

  • Characters - ORV has one of the most richly filled and developed casts I've seen in media in a while, and nearly every character (of which there are a LOT) has some kind of arc. There are some characters that are done with less justice than others, an inevitability of having a cast that large in a story, but even they usually have some sort of development. There is literally no character in ORV who are one-note characters(other than Flying Fox ofc). Even the least interesting ones are written better than many great characters , another note that I want to make on this is that, there are A LOT OF COOL GIRLS in this story, and pretty much all of them get their arcs in unique and interesting ways! ORV tends to introduce characters in terms of tropes or stereotypes (the nice girl, the innocent child, the hardened warrior, the foul girl) and then slowly builds onto those foundations in ways that make them immensely interesting and complex. It's so sad that i can't go into spoilers..... moving on.
  • ART - As per me ORV have better art than SL(and I am not joking at all) while SL have flashy animation ORV have detailing in every panel(i usually read on laptop that's why it's easier to realize the difference in art) I literally mean it lol

    they are BEAUTIFUL

  • MISCONCEPTION - The main misconception about this manhwa is whether it's gey or not(the reason why many avoid it) and the answer is NO, it's not a yaoi. Kim Dokja don't have a love interest that's why the fandom ships him with everyone which is in sight.
  • CONCLUSION - What are you waiting for? Just go and start reading it!!! It's probably the most interesting one you will ever read, even the MC promises you
    just where will you see something like this?
  • PS - Try reading every constellation message and usual words since there are many foreshadowing in it, this story have too much information for many readers to handle(which is also one of the main reason why they drop ORV)
    FOR NOW I WILL GIVE IT A 97/100 which will change after the Season 1 ends (probably around 185 ch).

  As a reader, you'll see a celebration of humanity's storytelling and gain pride as a human being

  So I'm not fully caught up with Omniscient Reader, nor have I read either versions of the web novels. But I really got to get this off my chest before I explode.

  Omnisicent Reader is really fucking good, and really fun to read.

  I used to read a lot of manhwa, but I stopped after I came across too many bad ones. All around me I started to only see the worst of the genre, creating this unfair image I had towards manhwa that it was either all Solo Leveling clones or poorly written romance stories that liked their shock value. I knew that this prejudice could be solved by reading actual good manhwa, but my motivation wasn't very high. Not until a friend of mine forced me to read this manhwa, one of his favourites and it seems to be really popular too. I didn't have the highest of expectations, but I figured I would give this a shot. Something I'm really glad I did.

  What lied before me was a celebration of storytelling and humanity's experiences with such tales. As a kid, I was a big fan of Greek mythology. Something about how all these tales were spoken by word, evolving and changing with new takes on them was amazing. In a world that is always changing, these stories persevered and remain stories that we tell each generation. Then you have every culture having their own myths and how they have impacted that region. These stories become more than bed time tales, but legends that speak of humanity's struggles and victories. Good and bad mix into one another, and it's up to the reader to decide what they make of it.

  Omnisicent Reader places you with a protagonist like us. He is a reader. He grew up with pain and loss, but one story kept him going, kept struggling along with him until the day that his world fell to ruin. You're then shown this incredible system of powers, stats and scenarios that our characters have to face against. Morals become questionable and chaos roams around us. But that is when humanity can push forward and break forward. And Kim Dokja knows this very well as a reader of this story. Since he has read this story, he knows its rules and what he can do to survive, but as the protagonists of the stories that are within this world, he isn't the best, morally speaking. He uses people and lies a lot to get in this way. Yet that cockiness he has is endearing and the bonds he makes are the truth of the matter. Throughout all these chapters, he becomes more than a lucky survivor hat happened to read a fairly unpopular web novel, or a hero to some and a villain to others, but his own unique story in a world that needs one. A fable if you will.

  If the main character doesn't sell you on it, perhaps the cast of really fun characters will. The original main character is a broody man, that you can understand very quickly why he acts so rude and selfish. His relationship with Dokja is akin to a younger brother butting heads with his older brother, for how much they argue and fight, they stil care for each other (Though they'll never show it). Then you got Dokja's squad, as I call them: Hyun-Sung Lee, a kind solider, aJi-Hye, Lee, an ex student/navy expert, Hee-Won Jung, the "sword" of the group, Gil-Young Lee, an insect loving child, and many more members that get involved later on that I also love deeply. This team is like an JRPG, people with their own stories that you want to learn about with rich personalities that make you love them whenever they show. I'm always sad when the story has them split up. Then when they reunite, I have the dumbest smile ever.

  Spoilers:

  If you're curious on my favourite characters, my main one is Su-Yeong Han. The whole idea of someone plagiarizing the story of TSWA never occurred to me, and the whole arc of people who knew stuff about his world was so fun. Then you get the reveal of who she is, and she's so funny and hot.

  

  Then I like Hee-Won Jung, who is a tomboy and I love tomboys. I also admire her sense of justice and what she's willing to do for her friends.

  

  Of course Dokja is a pleasure to have as the main character. Always flipping things on their head, and every scenario is never as you might think it will go.

  

  And let me tell you, the art style of this story is great. I never understood the style of paneling that Manwha had until I read this. It uses that scroll and the format of being on a phone to its full potential. Sometimes you scroll down and see the chaos or epic battles occurring, seeing each layer like these old paintings I used to see where they didn't know perspective yet. It's like everything pops out, and it allows you to breath each element in as you go down. When the page goes sideway, it's showing you how brief these amazing moments are to the characters that they are easily missed in everything that's going on. This one story makes me feel awful that I complained about it, because these moments are stuck in my head at all times now.

  

  The layers of power systems and sponsors becomes a puzzle that are slowly told but I get this sense there's a lot more to unpack with every new arc. All of the possible sponsors are this treasure trove of references from history and myths. You might get some of them, and you might not get others. With the Greek stuff, I get all excited seeing them but the Korean figures go over my head. That isn't a bad thing at all though. It makes me want to research more of these myths, really learn about them because doing so, I believe, is learning about humanity and what we have to offer. They give this great pride in myself as a human being. Throughout all the wars, the sins mankind has done, these stories of people trying to live in peace and explore, doing what they want. It brings me an indescribable joy to discover them.

  I write all of this without having caught up to the story. I want you to understand how much fun this story is.
  Every arc is filled with side characters, different abilities for our characters to use, and a storyline that gets every bit more thrilling than the last.
  From what I know of the length of the webnovel, this story isn't anywhere near the end and is only getting started. Which fills me with a thrill to know what's going to happen next. Like Dokja, I don't care if it takes 10 years to reach the end because I'll be there every step of the way as a loyal reader from now on.

  This adventure is what humanity's storytelling is all about. People like you and I, trying to surivive in a cruel but wonderful world where every day can be the last. Even so, it gives all the more reason why we push forward.
