  Destruction on a Unova Scale

  Where do I even begin? This review will be short as I honestly can't be bothered talking about this arc for too long. The best way I can describe this is just one big fuck you to the previous arc (BW). But I guess since this review is mostly negative let's start with some positives. The school setting is nice, it makes sense with how the directions of the lives of our characters have lead them and allows for many good interactions. Class E which is home to our primary characters is really forgettable however. Not much of an issue however considering how minor they are. Hugh is pretty good, I think he is a little too much at the start so he doesn't completely work for me but I still liked his journey. Overall this arc is alot different to previous arcs so even if it doesn't always work I am at least glad something new was tried. The old characters that very briefly appear are just as great as always and while I always love some fanservice its good this story mostly just stuck to Unova. Wow I really had to try to find those positives. All the positives mentioned above also come with some great big BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT's. But we will get there. Ok so first of all the main reason I love pokespe is the main characters. Above plot, new regions or whatever else the protagonists make or break their arcs. And for the most part they have been great. However Blake and Whitley just done nothing with me. Along with Emerald they rank top 3 lowest protagonists of the series and I hate to say that considering they both had promising starts. Whitley has a super cool backstory that could produce so much tension, development and great moments but is instead only remembered by her funny faces she makes throughout the arc. It really felt like nothing was done with her and by the end it felt like she was a background character even when she took part in major events. Blake is even worse however, he has no arc to speak of and overall seems so half-baked. Really making me believe the writer wants to continue with these characters at some point. Even if a sequel arc comes out when let's say unova remakes are also out I don't think that would really fix the many problems with this arc. I shouldn't have to wait years for development that should have happened in the first arc. I get this arc had trouble throughout its run but all I can do at this moment is just discuss the final product which disapointed me. Old characters barely got to do anything, THEY ROBBED BLACK AND WHITE. I know it isn't their story but when the new main character is a fucking robot they should have remained the main players. Colress is ok, his dynamic with our heroes is almost extinct so he does little for me. The ending is hot fucking garbage and I doubt I need to explain why. Black didn't even get to complete his story which is so stupid and retroactivly makes his OG journey in the last arc look like a joke. Much like this arc as a whole... A joke. It wasn't complete rubbish all the way through but for crumbling the remains of one of my favourite arcs I think it deserves the hate it gets. Second worst arc slightly ahead of FRLG which I still believe is the worst. All I can hope is that this isn't the light Unova in pokespe ends on...
