DESCRIPTION
The story is set one autumn at the beginning of the 21st century in the Uchihama area. Uchihama Academy is growing by leaps and bounds. With the construction of a new school building, there will be one last General Club Festival at the old building that is slated to be closed. The students vow to go all out to make this final cultural festival a success.
The Astronomy Club of the protagonist Sou Akiyama is filled with the big names on campus. Just before the festival on October 1, the club receives a request from the student executive committee to calm the uneasiness among the students. There are reports of ghost sightings, accidents, sleeping sickness, and other mysterious incidents at the old building. When Yui Furukawa, a quiet girl who transfered late into the school, appears before Sou, the gears of fate slowly begin to move.

80/100It may have bad animation, but everything else makes it great.Continue on AniList"I'll see you again tomorrow, right?"
Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete was an anime I have wanted to watch ever since I knew of its existence before it even started airing. I don't know how, but it just seemed to captivate me. Thus, I waited to watch this adaptation of the eroge of the same name, and at last, my waiting paid off. What I got was a perfect example of how you should not determine whether an anime's good or not just from the animation.
Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete is basically about a high school boy named Sou Akiyama, who is pretty much the only one in his school club, the Astronomy Club, who actually cares about astronomy. The Astronomy Club is told by the student council to calm the uneasiness among the students before the cultural festival, as things such as ghost sightings have been occurring as of late. Suddenly, Sou finds a white-haired girl, naked and unconscious. This girl's name is Yui Furukawa, and she seems to be interested in joining the Astronomy Club.
Now, I can't really describe the story without giving you spoilers, so let me make it simple enough for you; it's beautiful. It's the kind of story that grips you from episode 1, making you want to know more about what happens. Some of it may cause questions to arise, but those questions are answered in the most heartfelt way. Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete has one of the best stories I've seen in an anime for a while.
I can't say the same about the art, though. Feel, the studio behind this anime, has intentionally given it the most low-quality animation I have ever seen. Thus, sometimes, I can't bear to watch Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete. Like I said earlier, though, you can't judge an anime by its art, like how you can't judge a book by its cover. As such, I should probably say that the animation is the only thing wrong with this anime. (The art from the visual novel, though, is beautiful.)
Besides the plot, Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete has an OP ("Le jour" by Satomi Sato) and an ED ("Ashita Mata Aeru yo ne" by Hatsumi Takada and Akane Tomonaga) that I could listen to all day and not be bored! The voice actors also fit the character they're voicing well. I may have said that a thousand times, but I can't help that I mean it. This anime also has a plethora of great characters that actually seem to have even a smudge of personality. I also loved the bond between Sou and Yui.
Overall, despite its awful artwork, Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete is a good anime. If you're in the mood for a great story, great music, and nice characters, this is the one. It's too bad this isn't really a popular anime. Hopefully, more people will be appreciating this more in the future!

70/100steins;gate lite with fanserviceContinue on AniListSell written for my friend Josh:
alright, this is the most difficult real sell I've ever given you, and I made you watch the entirety of Higurashi s1. (for reference, Tanaka-kun and Hyouka weren't real sells.) However, that was 26 eps, this is 12. In search of lost future is adapted from an H visual novel which was, in turn, adapted from a french (not H) novel which I fully intend to read, possibly in the original french. It is, wait for it
drumroll
well implemented time travel! Its main plot puts characters in mechanically interesting positions and gives them difficult choices. I could talk my head off about it and I will, but before that, some of the cons in the pro/con that I have to get out of the way- Having just watched Devilman Crybaby, the effect of the gratuitous nudity was lessened on me, but it was still very much there and is probably why the anime is not as high on lists as it should be from a plot stance. Some nudity (Yui in the biotube) is tasteful and makes sense, but a lot of it really just stems from the fact that this was adapted from an H VN. They make a point of not censoring breasts. It's implied that something happens with a teacher at one point in ep 1. After episode 9 or 10, when the plot kicks into high gear, the uncalled for nudity dissipates.
- It starts with some awkward CG, which, again, dissipates down to just cars and difficult structures as the show moves on (kinda like Re:Zero and Higurashi)
- Eps 3-8 lie somewhere between pattern establishment and filler. Depending on who you ask, you might get told to doublespeed them. There are some important scenes concerning character relationships though. Same as Higurashi Gou 1-13.
- The origin of one element (the cube) remains unexplained. However, this is not important for the causal chain.
with that out of the way, (mild spoilers list of pros)
||- In search of lost future implements a multi-line time travel universe wherein the time traveler faces attractor field convergence.
- unlike in higurashi's implementation of limits surrounding the repetition of time travel (hanyuu has a soft limit on the number of times she can loop, each loop gets easier due to world line bleed), our character, causally, must loop infinitely, but escaping attractor field convergence gets harder each time due to the nature of the time travel.
- It is a japanese VN, and, as is probable, focuses on high school romance. However, the romance is important because it is causally linked to the time travel
- Not only is it multi-line, but we get some re zero unthinkable presents, diverging from the traveller's POV. Each world is real and the stakes are high.

So if you got through Devilman Crybaby and you like the big 4 as much as I do, this is something to check out.
