80/100Dancing is fun but challenging.Continue on AniListSports anime are amazing, not all sports interests me though. I never was a big fan of dancing, but I respect those who been doing it for years. Dance is one of those hobbies that teaches you about harmony, loss, relationships and so much more. What I really liked about welcome to the ballroom was how we watched a guy who had no talent or drive to dance fall in the marvelous hobby of ballroom dancing. Making the series about a guy learning how to appreciate dancing and find rivals to surpass was a good choice. Underdog stories such as the one told in welcome in the ballroom never fail to amaze me. I relate to Tatara a lot, he's meek and just wants to be good at the things that he finds cool such as dancing. Initially, I was worried either tatara would be a fast learner or he would go through hoops to be a better dancer. Lucky for he had subtle and gradual character development, so it wasn't like a random shift in his personality for plot reasons! Seeing this character and his friends define what dance means to them.
The plot really fits the title, Welcome to the ballroom, we witnessed a journey on becoming a professional dancer. The openings are also symbolic to this idea. Tatara has to hit the ground running to make up for his lack of experience You not only have to be familiar with all sorts of routines such as the waltz or quickstep, you need to stand out.Tatara did get lucky by having talented partners and good coaches however, he still had to WORK harder than most people. He was a complete novice at dancing and had to get used to the blisters, proper posture and routines. Just like anything, you need to work hard at it and know your limits. Tatara went into ballroom dancing thinking it'll be a breeze then he woke up to reality. I like when you get a good balance of seeing the pros give their insights and their struggles and seeing noobs learn the ropes.
The inner monologues of the dancers felt natural, you get a strong grasp of the worries and thoughts of performing for the sake of being the best. You could have amazing talent, but maybe you are weak at a particular routine, so you develop strategies to counter your weakness. That's what I found interesting, depending on what competitions you do, determines how what kind of things you focus on. I never thought about how important it is to maintain your stamina and injuries carefully. In the end, I learned how just about any activity can be as important as air for some people, so we should respect their efforts even if we don't understand personally.

85/100Don't just dream — live your dream.Continue on AniListWelcome to the Ballroom (ボールルームへようこそ) is an anime about ambitions and working hard towards reaching your dreams.
Plot:
Tatara Fujita is a middle school student who can’t find something that stimulates him to the point of saying he is really passionate about it. Therefore, it causes him to feel lost regarding his future.
One day by pure chance he stumbles upon a ballroom class where a significant encounter happens. Any dream would be fine at this point, so Tatara decides to cling to this newly discovered hobby.Characters:
Although many personages are being introduced, their presences won’t be overlooked. Each character is well portayed and plays their own part in the show.
Designs are done right and do not result repetitive, what captures the attention mostly is the particular art style with marked eyes and eyelashes.
Most of the characters do result strong-willed and hard working, evolving continuously by having a steady goal in their mind and working towards it.
An interesting point also is how the couples are shown to improve together slowly (with some flashbacks added in), instead of continuously relying on the partner. The main character in particular, does evolve a lot through the series, as may be expected. The whole concept of searching for a goal in life, or a hobby that might change your routine is very realistic and interesting, as the theme also touches how an outsider discovers and starts exploring a new-found field.
Animations:
Despite animations being well made, the first half of the anime shows a lot of zoomed-in pictures during ballroom competitions. The second half, though, compensates a bit for it (taking in consideration how complicated might result to animate complete dancing scenes).
Few of shown flaws are exceeding dancers’ postures including a dwelt neck, portrayed to show us the setup difference between a dancing athlete’s body and not exercised person’s shape. Being a sports anime, the form is presented quite often and might also result repetitive.
On the positive side, many outstanding costumes will be on view, as well as different hairstyles. The change between a character on stage and off it, is very interesting. Both esthetically and personality-wise.The anime presents really few hardly noticeable sexual humor and a lot of comedy instead, not leaving out the public being focused mainly on competitions and encouraging story with a slight drama added to it.
An exciting experience overall, if you’re looking for motivation or some quality 24 episode sports series.Recommended if you enjoy competitive type of anime with a lot of quality elements and a lot of enthusiasm.

77/100A story about a rookie dancer who has been practicing for a year.Continue on AniListFujita Tatara, a boy with no dreams to realize. Finds a sexy girl who also doesn't have dreams and thinks that he is not alone in this facade of chasing dreams. He found a nakama. So he follows(not a stalker manga) her and he watches that she enters a dance studio. Of course he didn't stop there so he followed her till end and boy was he not surprised when he found out that she was pursuing her career as competitive dancer. As guessed correctly he was
forcedencouraged to join the studio by another sexy lady sitting on the counter. Moreover he did ballroom dance, where you have to hold by waist. Hyuu! Tatara-kun.He needed a dream to cling on in order to find a career so meh he started dancing.
And thus the story of our MC begins! He goes on dance till he would blister his feet.At some point dance becomes something to love rather that just something to cling on.
The above was just the description of first episode not till end so it was just there to fill words. The review starts now.
To be honest, I did not start with any expectations so every scene and plot progression was amazing in my POV. The story takes a lot of turns and twists, the characters hit their own type of slumps here and there and often there are some good development. The most lovable thing about this manga that I found was showing ballroom dance as competitive sports which I had no idea of.
Exactly! There are a lot of girls with nice body and thighs! No, that's not what I meant when I mentioned that its spots anime. Though there are beautiful and pretty girls which just looks mouth gaping even with heavy make up.What I wanted to say was that there are rivals in this too. And just like anyother sports anime the rival is of course the best in the said category. He looks dull, unattended, doesn't care what others think IF it's not about dance.
And yes, the MC is surrounded by national level dancers and is coached by world level dancer. No wonder he got that far at end of series.
Maybe I am writing too much about the story. Okay, back to vague hints about this series! The development in story was perfect and usually is not as expected. Which is a good thing since it maintains an air of mystery around it and also keeps the viewers on edge. Personally I liked the continuous bumps in this supposedly straight road of dance since it was realistic and at the same time enjoyable. Tatara always finds a way but that doesn't means he necessarily succeeds which was quite satisfactory to watch but at same time a little suffocating.
Pacing of story is somewhat unnoticeable because it seems too real. Not too many unexplained or unexplainable coincidents occur since the world of dancing is small. I personally loved the character setting which was somewhat cliché but satisfying to watch. My favorite character was Masami Kugimiya. I could relate a lot to him and his struggle was real and sorta depressing.
All the openings and endings were banger of this show. My personal favorite is 2nd opening. One of the most notable aspect was the representation of dancer's view and how they perceived the situation at hand.
All in all this was delectable watch and totally enjoyable if you have reached till, you should definitely give this anime a chance.
