  When the dungeon gets tired of the games.

  Overview:

  Brestia takes a side character role this time around. Its time for some raw story. Whats that, not enough dungeon the people say? Well well well, there is dungeon in here and it gets spicy. Might as well get right into it given episode 0 is all the recap a person could ask for.

  First bit is a quick dive down there to get familiar with the area that we will be well acquainted with in the coming eps. Also, a certain Marie makes and appearance hehe. Wholesome interactions with bell. Again is setup for the hardship to come.

  After completion there’s a new title for adventurers meeting. Expectedly Bell is the talk of city once again.

  Meat an taters comes in now though. A simple expedition handed to bells group with a simple goal. What could go wrong. Well more dungeon is what goes wrong. On the way out they are met with a murder mystery, they have to investigate and assist due to the ones involved. Down some floors with this riot. Simply put for the rest, big monster, what could get worse, oh shit that’s worse. Wait it really cant get any worse, right? Who again, phew its over… right? Mangaka san please stop, its enough dungeon now.

  Oh it goes from 0 to 100, then 200 very fast with the last arc covered. Back of mind hopes fulfilled while incorporating new characters and really showing off the severity of the dungeon and why Zeus is no longer top dog. Ending with a edge of seat moment that is satisfied by seeing this is 2 cour and a one season downtime to help cope with what is about to hit us.

  Visuals/Music:

  Visuals of danmachi are unique and have more of a blobish flow to them that works very well. Other anime have copied this style with varying results which should speak volume. The animation of fights is something else that is very noteworthy. No complaints from start to finish about how animation is done in and outside of fights. Bluerays for Danmachi are known to only further express what makes the show on a tier that allows for this many successful seasons.

  Music is great as well with silence being used when needed and proper osts used for emotional scenes that help keep a viewer immersed in whats going on. While also peaking emotions during sad or intense scenes. Where it falls short is the use of mic rupture/peak sound effects. These mic rupture effects are something many shows put in to try and show a more powerful event happening, but it really takes away from immersion and harms the scene. However, with the caliber of animation and ost that danmachi carries with it, mitigation of demersion is able to happen but it is still there. Only benefits would be seen from using better sound effects for many scenes.

  Final Thoughts:

  Highly recommend danmachi to others as it is a show with a great world built around it and an even better character and story wrapped around it.

  Brestia may not make an appearance as prominent as other seasons which is a shame. Somehow it truly doesn’t matter much though lol, the rest of this season carries it hard where less tiddies or more tiddies wouldn’t have made a difference. When she is shown, oh is still blissful for those wondering :mrclean:

  The ending of this season… LN readers, sorry to say but im glad we only have a 3 month wait kek, that 9 month wait for the next volume must have been hell, a hell worth waiting for though lol.

  Insulted by all the exposition

  Overview

  I can't say I recommend this. I've been watching this series each season ongoing since 2015 but I'm calling it. I feel insulted by all the exposition, leave some room for viewers to think for themselves and figure things out or at least explain things only once.

  Story : 2/10

  No surprise whatsoever. The plot is straightforward, no turning back, no back story, nothing. Straight from an elementary student's writing.
  The story of each episode is quite literally: the party encountered danger, one character showed their power, the problem solved. Then another problem appeared which needs a character to get stronger to solve it, the character gets stronger, the problem solved.

  Easily the most brutal and gory season, so much blood and deaths, yet I cared so little. Why? Characters were introduced just to be torn in half within 2-3 minutes. The writer wants gore and deaths yet doesn't want to lose any well established characters. Every death ends up feeling so cheap yet gory and disgusting, it's like watching someone step on insects just for the hell of it.

  You can make a fight feel difficult without killing nobodies if you use your imagination a bit more, many other animes managed to do it. You can also go the other route and make it sad by killing people that viewers have established connection with, many other animes managed to do it...

  I also have a huge issue with the way they repeat things over and over and over again. Ryuu's past was explained at least 3 times in the last 2 episodes and over 5 times in the season, and the way everyone just stops fighting and listens to the story being told over and over just irritated me.

  Many character's do some real frustrating things, for example at some point in the story we get introduced to a character that has an ability to foretell the future in her dreams, yet nobody wants to listen to her, even though her dreams proven consistently accurate.

  Bell's actions don't make sense and are frankly... Stupid. A person kills hundreds of people and brags about it in his face, and Bell just decides to spare him and let him go continue doing what he does best, kill innocents.

  Sounds : 7/10

  The sound is great. The music fits well and is generally acceptable. Nothing seems out of place and the voice acting is great, with each character's voice recognizable even if without seeing their faces.

  Thoughts

  You actually have to be high as hell to enjoy watching this, you need to throw common sense out of the window, otherwise most character's actions will frustrate you. You also need to pass out when they explain the same thing 3 times in the same episode, then wake up at the good parts (good animations btw). Probably not watching the 2023 season.
