40/100A misunderstood romcom, but still not goodContinue on AniListThere’s almost always one random anime that will get some controversy no matter if for something that is minimal or stupid yet will become the center of criticisms about the show, and in this case the series that got this treatment was KimiZero. For some reason, the main girl made some people go crazy with part of her gimmick, which in this series is that she already had relationships with other boys in the past and even had sex with them. That’s all, and as it was proven in the past by series like HigeHiro where you could complain about basically anything like bad writing, bad animation, badly written characters, etc, but instead people ignore them and whine about a completely unrelated thing, as the main complain there was also that the girl in the cover wasn’t a virgin.
Some people will say that the writing of this series seems like it was made by an incel, and I have to disagree, after all, that kind of people are the most likely to complain that the girl had sex before. In fact, I can’t comprehend how such a simple series like a romcom got so misunderstood, the memo that you get from here is not that having multiple relationships and sex with literally anything is good, no, the series paints this in a negative light and Runa regrets it because it happened due to her bad decisions on how to make a significant relationship. The fact that this simple fact gets over so many people’s heads is surprising to me, as it is something very easy to pick up from so many episodes, the one in the festival in particular is extremely blatant about this. This series at least tries to make sense, as some people will have a sexual life earlier than others, and they might regret it later if it isn’t with someone that matters to them in the first place.
But now, is KimiZero a good series? Of course fucking not, as much as I want to side with the fans of this series, that simply isn’t possible for me. At the very least, I think this series is commendable for actually having the main girl who is super popular and beautiful interacting with boys, and having had relationships in the past, because in most romcoms God forbid that the main girl has ever interacted with any boy except the MC. The series obviously suffers from average romcom and light novel writing, nothing actually exciting happens, and when it does, it is written like a Mexican telenovela, like, do people think that the twin sister of a girl faking to be her is not something ridiculous? As it happens, the MC is also bland as hell and the relationship came to be in a completely unnatural way, it happened because Tanjiro asked Runa to become his girlfriend after he lost a bet with his friends and she simply accepts like it was nothing, no one in their sane mind would see this and think it isn’t forced, and even if some moments between Tanjiro and Runa were fine enough, it isn’t enough to see this series and think it was anything meaningful. I can stand the telenovela tier writing because I grew up watching a lot of them, so that’s why most romcoms are not something that bother me at all, and this one is not exception, this series is simply boring most of the time and not much more, it isn’t actively annoying, and it was a good enough joke when a character started talking about something they are very passionate about and the other was completely lost without understanding anything.
Nicole acting like a bitch towards Tanjiro was always something weird, she constantly told him that he shouldn’t do anything bad about Runa, when he looks so inoffensive and his personality is literally “I’m nice”, I can only wonder if she was doing the same for previous Runa boyfriends or if she saw Runa being hurt so many times she started being overprotective coincidentally with him, I want to believe the second one, especially because Runa seems to ignore a lot of her advices, but there’s nothing to tell me that she isn’t like this because the current guy is the protagonist and apparently she must annoy him. There’s also other romantic relationships happening in the background with Tanjiro’s friends and the other gyaru, but they go nowhere and fail miserably at it. And Maria is probably the side character that is most important, her deal is really weird, she is also in love with Tanjiro and he even confessed his love towards her in the past but she rejected him, so why is she seeking for his love now even after she rejected him before? Is it just to have more drama in the show, as it happens she is jealous of Runa, but at the same time wants to be more noticed by her because of their relationship? She acts like a bitch half of the series and then victimizes herself, she clearly has problems in her, and it all revolves around Runa and Tanjiro.
As it stands, KimiZero is basically just a generic romcom with more drama than it should have, but at the same time has a female MC that seems more plausible than other girls from other romcoms, thanks to her not being an untouchably pure virgin. I seriously cannot make an effort to be on either side of the conflict about the series, since I for one think that anyone can have any relationship with anyone they want, so I cannot agree with the haters, but I also disagree with the people saying this is a wholesome show, as nothing about it stands out as actually meaningful or even cute.
Thank you for reading.

85/100What at first glance looks like a generic romcom, ends up being a great drama with a very deep and sad key point.Continue on AniListStory and Characters: 9/10
One thing that certainly made this rating so high is the character development. Mainly of the side characters, [Nicole](https://anilist.co/character/309664) and [Yuusuke](https://anilist.co/character/309666/Yuusuke-Ijichi). Nicole might have seemed a little overdramatic at the first glance, and as unpleasing as it might have looked like, going further and further into the story just showed how much she actually cares for [Runa](https://anilist.co/character/263823), and her behaviour and prejudice was caused by her experience with the ex-boyfriends which have already hurt Runa. She ended up getting along with [Ryuuto](https://anilist.co/character/263824) pretty well and realizing he is indeed the one Runa was looking for, for such a long time. What should have been more fleshed out though is the relationship between Yuusuke and [Akari](https://anilist.co/character/309665). With the story being heavily focused on the main characters after Yuusuke's rejected confession in episode 10 at the school festival, it would be nice to have some elaboration on it, after seeing how Akari adored Yuusuke when he got over his depression, started working out and came back to school in a considerably more masculine shape. It reminded Akari of a popular K-pop singer, and ended up falling for him. [Ren](https://anilist.co/character/309667) on the other hand ended up being the least prominent character of the nerd trio. Throughout the 12 episodes he got nowhere with his romance life, which has been seen to be demolished after he chased Nicole and saw her getting back to his ex-boyfriend, [Shuugo](https://anilist.co/character/309668). One character I didn't like getting so much screen time was [Maria](https://anilist.co/character/309663). She seemed like a nice girl when she first introduced herself in episode 3 (teased at the end of episode 2), but it only went downhill after she exposed that she's actually a twin sister of Runa's. Maria ended up being the main cause of the series' misunderstandings, which only hurt Ryuuto and Runa's blossoming relationship, what got even worse with her miserable and cheap excuses for the disgusting actions towards Ryuuto. The rock-bottom and the reason why she quickly ended up on my "Hated" list is when she tried to have sex with Ryuuto by dressing up as Runa, and not even denying it and keeping to persuade Ryuuto to do it with her long after he exposed her. Runa ended up being my most favourite character of the series, by far. Her heartbreaking moments of realizing that she finally found a decent and love-worthy boyfriend were amazing and really tried to make me cry. It was really sad, seeing Runa's distorted point of view of a healthy relationship, especially when she invited Ryuuto to have sex with her, the day they started dating, because she thought it was normal.
Animation: 6/10
I'm not judging the animation of these types of romance anime (or any SoL series, really) strictly. It was just average, but good enough to the point it didn't affect my watching experience. The character designs by [Yousuke Itou](https://anilist.co/staff/177097) ended up very cute. A few specific mention-worthy moments are the scenes where characters get really overwhelmed with the amount of information they receive, this was initially seen from Ryuuto's side to Runa, since as a true nerd, when a topic he knew a lot about came up, his mouth couldn't stop running. Later in the series, in episode 8, this could be seen at the restaurant between Nicole, Akari, Runa, Yuusuke, Ren and Ryuuto. Another scene was in episode 12, when Ryuuto was training his introduction speech to Runa's father, on a statue. When Runa suddenly came, she scared Ryuuto to the point...he became a scarecrow (lol). I found the eyecatch illustrations really cute and fitting. One of my most favorite ones was in episode 12.Humble
62/100Any Experience is Better than a Bad Experience.Continue on AniListOur Dating Story the Experienced You and the Inexperienced me, I went into this anime hoping for some excitement for the heart. Some heart tugging, maybe some heart breaks, some aww moments. Instead, I stumbled upon a story most romance anime try to steer away from. Let’s talk about it further within the review. __Synopsis __ Let’s start with the synopsis of our story one of our MC’s Ryuuto is a bit of an introvert and not popular at all within their school asks his crush to be his girlfriend. Now our other MC Runa is the crush which happens to be the most popular girl in the class. Two people that are complete opposites, how will it turn out? Will it last? __Story __ Now let’s get into the best part of this anime, the story. Not many romances genre anime tackle a realistic issue such as the female having more experience than the male in a story. Personally, I’m thankful to see the anime revolve around this issue. I can recall a few moments such as Runa attempting to sleep with Ryuuto because she was used to being treated that way. Also, the moment where she cried due to not having any firsts to experience with Ryuuto. These are heart crushing moments, but it was the show saving grace in a way. Ryuuto and Runa did relationship did progress but there were a few roadblocks the show could’ve kept out. For example, Ryuuto and Runa broke up multiple times within the show, but it was for very small reasons or no reason at all this was very confusing to say the least. __

~~~
Let’s start with our two MC’s Ryuuto and Runa. I absolutely hated Ryuuto, there were too many moments where I applauded him then took the respect, I gave right back lol. He didn’t stand out much as Runa and possibly could’ve been overshadowed should they have given any other side character more development. Now on to our side characters Maria and Nikoru. Maria is the twin sister of Runa which kind of threw the story off cause she’s initially Ryuuto’s first crush. Personally, I think it would’ve been better if she was not Runa’s sister, I felt like they forced the sister relationship and a bunch of information in between did not make sense. For example, even Runa’s best friends did not know she had a twin sister... How? Maria had some of the best moments in the show and possibly a better fit with Ryuuto if we are being honest. Nikoru is Runa’s best friend who showed the best progression with even seeing a bit of a love story of her own in the show. Not much to say about Nikoru, it’s clear she’s been hurt and she’s tired of Runa being hurt from her attitude towards Ryuuto. Now there is Ryuuto friends and one more friend of Runa but honestly, they didn’t get enough time within the anime to have an opinion on them. __Animation __
I will say the animation is beautiful, especially the character designs (for the ladies). The guys all look plain, but I do have to give it up to the female characters design I am a fan. There were no weird animation issues and something that is often overlooked is the background of the anime was very detailed. __Conclusion __ To conclude the anime felt like a waste of time, I watched 1-10 episodes and had to kind of force myself to finish the anime for the review. Ultimately the experienced you and inexperienced me had a great story line to work with but they fumbled the ball. I grew tired more than worried about their relationship and often hoped Runa would get mad at Maria for all the nonsense she did but never did. I rate this anime with a – __Eh why am I watching this __ ___Anime with a score of 60-70 receives a “Eh why am I watching this”.__
