DESCRIPTION
Makoto Ito is a young Japanese high school student beginning his second term at the fictional Sakakino Academy. During his daily train rides to and from school, he becomes infatuated with fellow student Kotonoha Katsura; a girl that also commutes. When a new classmate acquaintance of his, Sekai Saionji, discovers his secret crush on Kotonoha, she helps introduce both of them to each other and over time they grow closer and agree to date. However in spite of her proud and triumphant matchmaking efforts, Sekai inadvertently becomes jealous of the new couple, having also developed feelings toward Makoto.
The following afternoon on her way home at the nearby train station in front of the school, Sekai finds Makoto waiting for Kotonoha to rendezvous for a date. He sits with her and reiterates his appreciation for her help, and feeling heavily indebted, offers repayment anyway he can. Though she believes he is overreacting, Sekai decides to redeem her obligation by placing a kiss on his lips as her train pulls in; quickly rushing into an open passenger car and happily bidding a dumbstruck Makoto luck on his date.

77/100If you like anime that is made to make you angry, then watch it. If not, you might as well do it for the experience.Continue on AniListOverall: 7.7/10
School Days is an interesting anime. Some people praise it, some people hate it. For me, it sits right in the middle of the tree somewhere. I both love it and hate it at the same time. I love it because of the emotional reaction it was able to get out of me, and I hate it for the exact same reason. Mind you, this is not an innocent high-school romance show. This is everything but an innocent high-school romance. If you are easily angered and/or overly sympathetical, you will hate this show.
Setting: 7.5/10
The show revolves around Makoto Itou, a high-school dude who takes the train to school everyday. On the train he sees Kotonoha Katsura, a girl in which he takes interest in. At school, he is seated next to Sekai Saionji, who notices that Makoto is interested in Kotonoha, and sets the two up. However, Sekai actually starts having feelings towards Makoto herself.
That is the basic premise of the show.
The show is in a regular high-school setting, which is not exactly original, but hey, at least it isn’t boring. I, myself, watched the entire series in a day, because I was always eager to find out what would happen next. The series is based on a visual novel (hentai game) by the same name, and is basically a representation of what would happen if the main character were to make the worst decisions possible.
Characters: 7/10
Some people say the characters are complete shit, but that’s not true. It’s actually the exact opposite. If it weren’t for the extraordinary character-execution, the anime wouldn’t be as infamous as it is. Some characters you’ll hate, and others you’ll feel sorry for, as dan7828 said in his short-lived review. This, alone, is proof that the characters are well executed. They might be shitty people, but shitty people is not the same as shitty characters.
The majority of people who hate it, do so because of one reason in particular: the main character, Makoto.
This guy. You can’t write a review of School Days without mentioning how much of a prick he is. He’s the perfect example of how you should not behave as a person. He’s perverted, selfish, irresponsible, and an overall cunt.
I gave the characters a rating of 7/10 because even though they are well executed, they are still very regular character archetypes. Look at Makoto’s friend, for example. His only purpose in the anime is to be that typical “comic relief friend”, like you see in many other high-school anime. You also have “Setsuna”, the short, serious girl who knows her shit. That’s also been done to death. You have Sekai, the main character’s female friend, who is (you guessed it) very outgoing. You have Kotonoha, the shy, big-breasted girl. Also been done to death.
Even though this might not seem very original, it’s the choices that the characters make that makes this such a unique anime.
Visuals and Animation: 6.5/10
The animation is not exactly great, but it’s not bad either. It’s exactly what you would expect from a high-school anime from 2007. It still doesn’t reach up to the likes of Kanon 2006, though, but that’s not to be expected.
What I liked about this anime’s visuals was the grey-ish colouring that really set the mood. That originated in the VN, though, but it was well adapted into the series, and gives the series a special “aura”.
Sound: 8/10
The soundwork was really good in my opinion. The opening song contributed to the “aura” I was talking about earlier in the way that it’s really light-hearted. That’s not exactly to be expected from such a serious anime. The series seemed to have a different ending song every episode, and I didn’t actually take the time to listen to them.
The voice-actors also did a very good job.
The feeling it left me with: 10/10
Watching this series made me progressively more and more angry. The fact that it was able to do that is what I like so much about it.

81/100Roller coaster of emotions, love/hate after watching.Continue on AniListSchool Days was an unexpected jab into my normal anime "routine". I won't write much, 'cause this anime is too much to even talk about. 2200 characters is really too much. And don't expect for IMDb™-level analysis - I'm just a ? regular, everyday, normal ? - you know.
My girlfriend wanted to watch it with me, because it looked cute and romantic, and would be a nice way to spend the evening. Oh boy...
And now, for the ingredients.
Setting, visuals, etc. - 7/10: school, mostly. Has that "older" look and drawing style, grey-ish palette. Really liked that, was really refreshing. Has a striking contrast with the slew of the horrible, empty-hearted decisions that happen constantly and make you question the humanity of the person you just thought was "a relatively fine human being".
Characters - 9/10: you love/feel for them all, except for one - the one who sets the emotional bar for this title. All the characters are unique and special, no one feels bland.
Audio/soundtrack - 8/10: to be honest, I had to look it up after watching. I was too invested into the happenings while watching to be able to pay attention to any sort of soundtrack. But it's really good. It contributed to the atmosphere from the beginning to the end - no matter to what kind of atmosphere.
Plot - ?: you know... No plot examination from me. It can't be judged by itself - it revolves around the choices and actions the characters make, and how you feel about them. Basically: Sex, rape, deaths, jealousy, stupid people you want to hate, a ghostly feeling of "love" in the air. **** it.
Summary: AAAAAH!!!. Just a tip: watch it. And let it do whatever it wants to do to you. You'll love/hate it, probably. It was a new experience to me. And I'd never want to rewatch it again. Only if I ever want to have different emotions from it - probably not anything too shiny and happy.
Something like "dissatisfaction" and "emptiness".One of these faces is the face of pure evil. The other just wanted to be loved.
GO TO HELL MAKOTO YOU ******

18/100Quite generic and very infuriating to watch.Continue on AniList[

A friend recommended this to me when I started watching Anime and watching this turned into the biggest mistake I made.[(SPOILER AHEAD) STORY:]()
School Days is a story about a young fella called Makoto. He is the most perverted and sexually deprived person in the whole multi-verse. Honestly. Calm down. One day he meets a girl called Kotonoha, he falls in love instantly, cause you know... why not? With the help of Sekai (a friend of Makoto) both get to know each other and after a while both starting dating. Great isn't it? No over complicated bullshit with "oh but its jumping the gun" or whatever, we get pure romance. Yeah I wish it was like that.
Makoto starts showing his sexual deprivation and pushes Kotonoha ever so slightly into doing something she is clearly not comfortable doing just now. To make matters even WORSE Sekai joins in the party with her jealousy, man I can atleast relate to this part of the show, introducing my friend to my crush and then realising my mistake xd
This is where shit hits the fan. Makoto goes fucking wild. In more ways than one. He fucks all the girls, left and right, totally forgetting about his beloved Kotonoha. This and the fact that Makoto is densest being on Earth doesn't help. At the start my anger was already at 20% and now its gotten up to 246%.
This show does have its unique moments but a lot of it is overwritten witch the most cliche harem Yandere plot. And even the thing that makes this a bit more unique is the fact that Makoto is a super sexually deprived pervert. Which didn't help in me watching this. Made me regret watching this more.
This show boils down to: Guy likes girl1, girl2 introduces guy to the girl1, girl 2 get jealous and steals guy, guy fucks every girl cause romance isn't his thing, girl1 gets psycho mode. Quite generic, and as I said his depraved mind is only unique thing.
[CHARACTERS:]()
In my honest opinion a LOT of the characters are quite plain.
The only character that does seem to have any sort of "charm" is Sekai, she actually has complexity. She wants to help Makoto with Kotonoha but also wants Makoto for herself, this delicate balance works in favour of her. Yes it is very cliche but honestly this is quite refreshing here.Makoto is, as I mentioned before, really fucking dense. He doesn't know how to talk to ANYONE, he doesn't even fucking think about his actions leading to this whole mess.
Kotonoha is very plain, she is the shy girl after all. Though her powers get awakaned later on in the show so she isn't plain for a long time!
There are A LOT of Supporting characters, like for example the friend of Sekai, she makes sure that Sekai is happy and will do almost anything to make sure that, she doesn't really show much emotions throughout the show so yeah. Apart from her everyone else is the same, a girl who will fall under Makoto's spell.
[ART/ANIMATION:]()
The art looks...well quite old. This show was made in 2007 but the art style looks a bit older than that, the eyes kinda give it more age in my opinion.
It doesn't looks bad. It is nice to look at.
The animation is average with sprinkled in good moments. So you know, the usual things we expected in this day and age.[MUSIC:]()
The OP is really calm, which is quite the contrast to the insanity that is this show.
It's not something I would listen to on a daily like with other shows but it doesn't sad half bad.
The ED though is a different story. It sounds calm again but is really plain.[OVERALL OPINION:]()
School Days is feels like a generic Yandere show, it has a plot that feels really generic and most of the Characters feel plain.
It also nearly made me make a hole in my wall due to Makoto.
Maybe if you really like Yanderes you will like this but for me it didn't pan out quite well. Sorry Yandere fans :v
