88/100A perfect example of how adolescent relationships should be handled.Continue on AniListOh Studio Feel, how my love for you has increased. It’s weird too, Studio Feel has been a studio of flexibility. From stuff like Kiss x Sis, and Yosuga no Sora, to something like this. What we have here is a beautiful romance anime recommended for those who seek steady pacing, realistic situations, and amazing characters.
Tsuki ga Kirei is an anime that takes place before highschool, basically middle school. As you know, love that blooms in middle school takes time, and requires a lot of patience and dedication. Our main characters are Azumi and Akane, two middle school students who are still a bit immature. However, immaturity is not necessarily a terrible thing. It just means it’ll take more effort to make this love connection work.
Our 2 characters do seem to have some sort of feeling for each other, it takes some time for them to show for one another. But that’s the beauty of it. When 2 people slowly come to terms with their feelings, and confessing their love for each other.
Seeing series like this, is very refreshing. Mostly in romance anime’s I watch it involves a lot of drama that doesn't get fixed till a couple more episodes finish. Funny how the drama in this anime is fixed almost immediately, taken on by a mature approach. Now, I love drama, drama is part of what makes a romance anime for me. But to see this kind of drama and coming to a resolution for it in the same episode, now that’s something I don't see everyday on anime.
One of the obvious portrayals of emotion these 2 show is shyness, if you can call that an emotion, idk. When these 2 are shy around each other, thinking what they want to do in their mind, it creates a soft atmosphere with a great amount of cuteness. Seeing how they can’t communicate well in real life at the beginning, but can talk perfectly on LINE reminds me of my Middle School moments. I just wished I spent my youth more wisely.
Back to Azumi and Akane, they don't show feelings for each other at first, but as time goes on, it gets more apparent. To see how these feelings and love unfold, well, you’re going to have to watch the anime.
The art style, in particular, is very unique to my eyes. I haven't really seen anything like that yet, and I feel like it fits the anime very well. The art really gives the characters their shine and makes them stand out. The art looks like what it would be if a middle-school based anime was made. Which is another reason why I love this anime so much.
One of the most outstanding qualities of Tsuki ga Kirei stands within Nao Touyama and the soundtrack. Every single insert song, OP, and ED shouts out Tsuki ga Kirei. It sounds like music where you can’t find anywhere else except this anime. The music has that soft feeling that makes you fall in love with it more. The timing and the proper execution of the OST really makes the scenes in this anime a lot more impactful. Which makes this one of the best romance anime’s this season has to give us.
So why watch Tsuki ga Kirei?
- The characters are what you would expect from middle-schoolers (shy, indecisive, etc.)
-The pacing is steady and makes it a realistic love story.
-The soundtrack fits and gives the scenarios more meaning, the art is smooth, soft, and colourful, giving the characters more outstanding --physical qualities
-The voice acting is appropriate for each character
-The drama that occurs get solved within the episode or the next episode
-Kiss Scenes xd
-Characters aren't the usual and not filled with your usual tropes
-Animation is great
-The process of the characters becoming more in love with each other makes is a beautiful thing to watch
-Nao Touyama :)
Anyways, for me, it’s a very solid series. I encourage those of you who are deciding to watch give it a couple of episodes. If you like a steady pace anime with characters coming to terms with their love, and a beautiful soundtrack, this is for you. A couple episodes shouldn't hurt :)

85/100A simple yet beautiful show that imbues a touching warmth within everyone's heart. Youthful love, they yearned.Continue on AniListEvery once in a while, a short breather is what we all need in life. Whenever you are ready for a calming anime that takes on the school romance genre, Tsuki ga Kirei is there ready to take you in for a wonderful story about the innocent side of love.
Two young teenagers, both strangers, noticed each other in their classroom. A bit of a push there and a pull here, and their romantic journey set off in the breeze. The story takes on a realistic yet simple path to develop the relationship between these two students. As they are still young people, the awkwardness of being in the presence of one another and the uncertainty of how to handle it from here on out is refreshing to say the least. In short, there is no forced progression. The character development to learn their blossoming love has a good pacing that's not too fast nor too slow, maintained all the way up towards a satisfying ending. Other aspects are also present in the storyline such as the use of a messaging app (LINE) which reinforces the modern and realistic narrative, and then there are the family and ambition subplots in the mix too. These help to tell a different perspective in their love life, not only because they shift the focus to other things that we all experienced in our personal life, they also add drama into the story. Thankfully, no heavy drama is utilized as it is simply not needed to engage the audience with emotions. A mere and natural human feeling can be enough to do the trick and this anime executes it well when the characters express their own feelings in handling some of the obstacles they faced. Though there are some characters that fall flat, it isn't enough to take away from the focus on the main relationship.
The art style nails in giving a modern look of a Japanese suburb. There is no busy hustle and bustle found in a city as the backdrops of peaceful sceneries fortify the relaxing atmosphere. It isn't fancy, but the peacefulness gives the story a more pleasant experience. While some scenes look pretty clumsy animation-wise, particularly in the CGI and running or walking sections, overall, the movements suit the breeziness the anime had going on. Strong white highlights in the hair convey an innocent, almost child-like, desire for a yearning love. It establishes the learning attitude of young people and this time, it's in the curiosity of a romantic relationship and how one should go about it. The audio part didn't really stand out compared to the story except for the fact that they are soothing. But in the last few episodes, the use of insert songs bring out emotions within me. Perfectly playing at the right moment and time without feeling out-of-place, they complement well with the scenes at the end of each episode. I also want to mention how I find the 'Huh's and 'Ah's and 'Uh's of the main couple to be purely adorable to hear, even though it's a recurring thing. They were cute during their interactions with one another, making me smile every time I see them together. Their purity truly inspire positive feelings inside my heart.
Simpleness might not be a thing for everyone, but a consistent and heartwarming romantic story like Tsuki ga Kirei is enjoyable to watch, even if it's on a one episode every two or so days basis. It's an honest narrative about a developing love between two young teens, a straightforwardly beautiful experience.

72/100Well done, but not for SeinenContinue on AniList**Notice: This review will not be beneficial to everyone** At the time of writing, I am 32 years old and have experienced love in more ways than I know how to tell. As such, this review will be geared towards people like me and thus will not be useful to this anime's target audience: adolescents & perhaps those who want to revisit their younger days.
Story - 70This anime is about the first experiences of romance between a boy & a girl, who are probably around 13 years old. It contains all the awkward & sweet trappings that you'd expect from such a plot. Honestly, it portrays that very well & I imagine if I was younger I'd have loved this anime. However, I am older & more mature and so this kind of stuff just doesn't resonate with me. Thus, I'd score this story well from a technical standpoint but only only mediocrely from a "do I relate to this?" point of view.
.
I will say this to the merit of the story, it did at times have even someone jaded like me care for what happened to the characters. Even though I've moved past this part of my life, it still was able to reach me...if only a little bit.Characters - 70Both the main characters start off shy & seeing their progression out of their respective shells makes for solid character development. The side cast does very well to support and at times interfere with the main characters. Little time is wasted on characters that do not help drive things forward.
.
That said, there is little memorable about any of the characters. It's all nice, but it's also all a little bland. Not that there aren't some great moments, but there is not a line said that stuck with me past the closing of the show.Visuals - 60There is a scene with fireworks that was awesomely done & that is the only reason why the visuals rose above the mark of 50. On average, the visuals are okay. The characters at times are enjoyable to view, but nothing really stands out.
.
That is, aside from the CGI. Off and on there are scenes where random CGI bodies plod along. It doesn't take away from the series, but it is an occasional eyesoreAudio - 95The best part of the series to me was the soundtrack. The music selection was on point and the delivery was timely. I'm going to revisit the OST someday. There is little bad I could say, it isn't perfect but the songs certainly tugged on my emotions from time to time.
Enjoyment - 65I couldn't binge this. I could only take the episodes in small doses. It just didn't pull me in. I'm glad I stuck with it because there were some moments that I enjoyed, especially the music. But on the whole....(continued below as summary)
TL;DR - Tsuki ga Kirei is a worthwhile enough show to merit watching, but to someone like me it's also worth skipping in favour of something that is better targeted to a Seinen audience. The love is well portrayed, but it is a young love. If you choose to watch it, be somewhere where you can enjoy the soundtrack because it really does shine.
